Handmade homegrown weekend.

I have big plans for this weekend. It may be crappy outside, but its warm and cozy inside. Perfect for what I have in mind.

I plan to spend some time at the Daylesford Craft Experience this afternoon, chatting about crochet and maybe hooking up a square or four.

I plan to rush out between rain showers to collect greens from the garden to cook up into frittatas and soup and salads and maybe some green garden bread.

I still have half a crate of lemons to bake and preserve.

Indi has found a lemon cardamon cupcake recipe she is desperate to try.

I'd love to get a chance to tidy up and declutter a bit. The inside world seems so much more exciting and inspiring when it is clean and fresh don't you think?

If the sun comes out at all it would be great to get some summer seeds planted and if not I'm sure there's masses of garden inspiration between the pages of our new Elliot Coleman book.

See that little pink ball of wool on the right? That's all the wool I have to finish my test knit. So I'll be knitting and stressing and hoping that it will go the distance.

We'll be baking for sure. This sour dough was just a bit too sour for my liking.

Hopefully I'll finish the sewing I started the other day.

And I'll be hanging with my crew. Doing the farm chores. Watching a DVD or two. Keeping the fires HOT. And trying to prepare for a few exciting projects we have going on next week.

So how about you?
Are your skies blue?
Will you be cooking and knitting and gardening too?

Or are your skies grey?
And inside you'll play?
Until the wind blows those pesky grey rain clouds away.

(To be read in your best poetry voice of course.)

Bye!
xx

  1. Ahhhh sounds lovely. Chilly but dry here. No blue in the sky at all. Lazy afternoon for now having just farewelled beachy friends. Horse riding for Miss 9 later on. Garden beckons but I'm ignoring it. Xx

  2. Blue sky and sunshine here..might attack another market bag this afternoon or ring my sister. I do agree that a bit of freshening up makes it much nicer inside...did that this morning, even washing up, wiping the benches and the table made it so much friendlier in the kitchen!

  3. We're planning a trip to a vintage steam event, complete with Victorian fairground. Still hanging on to the last vestiges of summer in the UK, but only just!

Those lemons look wonderful. Hope the yarn lasts :D

  4. Hi Kate,
It has been wet, wet, wet here over night , so I might get a bit of soggy gardening done, even if it is just a bit of sowing in the hot house, and make marshmallow with Max, and i think I'll do some daytime crochet as well, always a bit of a luxury. I love Eliot Coleman, he is so inspiring and makes everything seem very doable don't you think? Enjoy your weekend! Julie :)

  5. Blue skies after two days after the first summer thunder!!
My lemon trees (3) are bearing fruit for the first time will need to come up with a plan with all the lemons. After yesterday's visit to a coffee shop with hooky friends, lemon drizzle cupcake with lemon cream cheese frosting and zest...I must figure this recipe out :-)
    Enjoy the hot fire!

    1. Hey Colette,
All the wool I'm using in the granny square sampler blanket is from the left over from other projects basket.
Unfortunately that means I have no idea what it is.
I hope you fins the perfect blue soon.
      Happy weekend. x

  9. Blue skies here but unfortunately I am lacking in any kind of motivation. I have had a whole day to myself- no kids, no husband- & I always think " oh when I have some time to myself I'll ..." but today.....nothing! I washed sheets, tidied up, grabbed a few groceries, made pizza dough & moved some plants from the back garden to the front. It feels like a wasted day but then I think that maybe I needed some time to do nothing. There's always another day to get fun things done ....,

  10. Wow, that sounds like an awful lot of things for one weekend. We are all off to a torch light procession tonight to celebrate the end of Preston Guild 2012. Keep your fingers crossed for fine weather (something we are missing in the UK). Hope you get all your things done, especially the cosy DVD watching. Sarah

  15. I do miss my lemon tree. It came with the house and had served up lemons for many a year but with the drought - where I kept water up to it and was handsomely rewarded it - it finally turned up its toes at a wet season. The next citrus planting season I'm thinking of putting one in a recycled wine barrel.

  18. I rarely write comments, but i did a few searching and wound up here "Handmade homegrown weekend.".
And I do have a couple of questions for you if it's allright. Could it be just me or does it appear like a few of these comments come across like they are coming from brain dead individuals? :-P And, if you are posting on other places, I would like to keep up with everything fresh you have to post. Would you make a list of every one of all your communal pages like your twitter feed, Facebook page or linkedin profile?

  19. I was wondering if you ever thought of changing the structure of your
blog? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say.
But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so
people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or 2 pictures.
Maybe you could space it out better?
