Hard to imagine we've escaped vermin free and I've always got kids in our bed. I think hairdressers should just treat them or ignore them - they're so bloody common. I wonder if a home hair die kit would knock them about - hard to imagine they'd survive that.Kirsty @ Bowerbird Bluehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12511849105347338654noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4573422992082776289.post-5464151450952700622012-01-12T23:23:11.260+11:002012-01-12T23:23:11.260+11:00My (grown up) daughter and I both have very dry ha...My (grown up) daughter and I both have very dry hair. Our favourite treatment for this is to take it in turns to smother our scalps and hair with coconut oil. During one of these pamper sessions we noticed that my granddaughter had shared headlice with both of us (how generous!). When we combed the oil through after working it through each other's hair for 10 minutes or so we noticed that all the nits were just sliding out of our hair with the oil. Sweetest nit treatment ever!Ummyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02693356264116940527noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4573422992082776289.post-85020431544033375742012-01-12T21:46:37.828+11:002012-01-12T21:46:37.828+11:00Just found your blog and had to comment on this on...Just found your blog and had to comment on this one! I went to the doctor last year with what I thought was a dreadul scalp condition - so, so itchy - only to be told I had nits. I was so exhausted and itchy and humiliated that I burst into tears and the poor doctor didn't know what to do with me. I have happily since recovered and can see the funny side. xGreerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00463206542148286066noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4573422992082776289.post-20544082205351482682012-01-10T13:50:52.989+11:002012-01-10T13:50:52.989+11:00hello,

She kept cutting and doing the sales pitch - then she cut off the whole length of one side of my hair that I had insisted I had wanted to keep long. All she say was 'Sorry, but this is how I cut this style" !!!!
So I stood up took of my cape, told her I wasn't paying for this terrible haircut and walked out of the salon. I'm sure it was entertaining for the rest of the people in the salon. The only problem now is that I have a crooked haircut as she had only cut one side!!!knitgirl66https://www.blogger.com/profile/02114434329704860202noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4573422992082776289.post-17842953122591311182012-01-07T10:31:14.911+11:002012-01-07T10:31:14.911+11:00Heeeheee - sorry I shouldn't laugh. I had really long hair and I hardly ever got my hair cut. This hairdresser was a local celebrity and I waited a while to get in as I wanted to try something different. My hair was shampooed, and then she made the discovery as she was doing the parting ready for cutting. Her reaction was a loud scream, followed by a yell of "nits". I slunk out of the salon with my dripping hair.
Needless to say, I never went back there or to another hairdresser for about 3 or 4 years I was so scarred! I must have got them while helping in my son's school cause I only had 1 boy with a buzz cut (and no nits) at the time.

Hopefully you will look back one day and laugh as I can now.Kirstenhttp://www.picanini.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4573422992082776289.post-11794706238469074122012-01-07T09:32:03.664+11:002012-01-07T09:32:03.664+11:00I love your geometric Kate. Last time we took the kids to Sizzler, I did what I thought was a little fart, but no. It was a little poo. I bolted into the disabled toilet where discovered it had gone all the way through. I stripped off my bottom 1/2 and washed the offence away in the hand basin, then put the hand dryer to work. I was very grateful not to be wearing white pants that day!Lindy in Brisbanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14248604557179150421noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4573422992082776289.post-39674970187247472292012-01-07T08:09:50.542+11:002012-01-07T08:09:50.542+11:00A born quilter you are! There is actualy...Don't worry Kate.. Just nits!
There is actualy a place in Preston that ONLY does lice treatment for kids and grown ups. Wth follow up appointment. Smart, clever entrepreneurs right?
Years ago, I once had a day planned with my bestie. Our respective kids at Kinder/school we started at the hairdresser. Just like you, she ended up having to leave with wet hair and ashamed. Instead of our planned haircuts/lunch/movie day... I did her hair and we raided her fridge for leftovers.
We still laugh about it!
After years of experience, I really believe that cheap conditioner is what works best. Lots of it on wet hair... And comb comb comb. Wipe on tissues or towel in between each stroke. Will not hurt, no tears and can do it, taking turns in front of good video. The little critters get all sleepy and can't hold on.
2 or 3 nights in a row, then 7 days later. The egg cycle is 10 days...
But anyhow... The quilt is gorgeous and so is your blog.
CheersAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4573422992082776289.post-43501625837412565082012-01-06T20:58:32.507+11:002012-01-06T20:58:32.507+11:00Oh dear, those nasty little insects,my story, last ...Oh dear, those nasty little insects,my story, last year just before Christmas we were all still with my Mum after burying Dad and we had previously been to town (2 hour drive) to see Hubbys family when I discovered nits in the youngest sons hair, these were like nothing Ive ever seen before, one of the boys had got them before and the rest of us had been clean for ever, anyway we cut his hair off (meanie hubby was a bit rough I think)but the eggs/lice were huge and the eggs were on the end of the hair not near the skin and they were like a cross between a sheep louse and the human variety. His hair a light brown litterally sparkled like hed been sprayed with a can od paint,I smothered him in some "antique" eucalypt oil that was from the old store room,(a historic homestead these were likely over 80 years old.)We did everyones hair with the oil,had no hope of getting anything else for days,I even discovered dead ones in the brush I shared with the boys,(we had an emergency trip over to NSW from WA so werent fully prepared) BUT only that son had them and the rest of us were clean,it was a nervous older son who went to the hair dresser a few days later, yes Im scratching and I love your quilt!!My Five Sonshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10369103021745393399noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4573422992082776289.post-90003905519510422102012-01-06T17:56:45.960+11:002012-01-06T17:56:45.960+11:00PS your quilt is awesome, I love it!PS your quilt is awesome, I love it!Baa-Me Kniitshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00532601173550095905noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4573422992082776289.post-30241282162950447972012-01-06T17:55:54.147+11:002012-01-06T17:55:54.147+11:00very unsportly of her, they sterilise all the equi...very unsportly of her, they sterilise all the equipment between clients so what is the problem??
