I'm afraid there's not much of a creative space here at Foxs Lane today.
What there is is maths!!!! And numbers and measuring and a ruler. If only Mr O'Brien could see me now.
And there's also lots and lots of sewing around a rectangle. Straight lines and then stretchy elastic lines.
One of the first things we did when we brought our new/old caravan home, was to chuck out anything fabric. The curtains, the couches and the mattresses. When we went to buy new mattresses the other day we discovered that the sizes we were after didn't exist. So we got some slabs of high density foam cut. Perfect.Today I'm sewing custom made fitted sheets.
I'm using this pattern but I'm stretching the elastic around the hem.
The little girlies and us are having floral vintage sheets. Miss Indi doesn't like such things so I made her a sheet from an old plain blue flat sheet. It's probably a good thing to have a bit of plain in this mixy-matchy-patchy van. What are you up to?
See ya. x

Your caravan is going to look so homely, can't wait to see it inside! I'm slowly making things for ours, its got a few crochet blankets and cushions, and I've made us soft "caravan bags" with our names on (for transporting our clean clothes) that fit in the little overhead cupboards and then bringing the dirty laundry back again. Quite pleased with those they make packing it a bit easier.

You are gong to have the most gorgeous.
ReplyDelete(Love that it was cold enough for ugh boots, but shorts were okay)
Love the sheets, a caravan adventure sounds so exciting!
ReplyDeletethe sheets are perfect! I too like the blue in amongst all the floral vintage (enhances the floral really ;) )
ReplyDeleteI'm writing a beanie pattern and enjoying the sunshine! bliss!
We're planning a travel adventure someday soon too. Our job is to do up our old troop carrier and make it serviceable for our family of 4; instead of the awesome couple camper it used to be. (it needs kids' seats basically LOL)
That will keep you busy! I'm hoping to weave in a few ends on Kane's finished Hoodie. Looking forward to having it done
ReplyDeleteOh...kate have a look at your big girl playing with your little one....so super cute!!
ReplyDeleteLoving your sheets! Your caravan is going to look the BEST!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link too, my Granny has given me some old, but new, flat sheets, and I want to make them into fitteds when we get to Hong Kong :)
I'm having a squeak and a giggle at the fact that I have those very same pinky orange sheets! I got them for my fourth birthday. With a blue woolen blanket. My parents (were) are into practicalities.
ReplyDeleteHoly sheet!! Mr O'Brien?
ReplyDeleteHa ha!!
That is going to be one happy caravan floating around the country. Maybe the caravan moving vehicle is feeling a little neglected? Lovely springish feeling day over here, shorts and tee over there, must be the same. I am trying to get organised for the boys 5th and 7th birthdays on the weekend :/ Have a nice evening.
ReplyDeleteLOVE these photos.
ReplyDeleteJust precious. xo
Love, love, love that you are cutting up sheets to make...sheets!! (Which are way cool, btw.)
ReplyDeleteI do hope you give us a caravan tour before you take off.
xo
I've actually been thinking of you and your Van and your gorgeous skirts. My hubby mentioned going on a bit of a trip and I told him about your caravan - wondered how you ended up getting it? Also, wondered seriously about your skirts... I am playing teacher for 3 weeks with my Uni placement and have been visualizing myself in one of your pretty skirts walking around with my Grade 1's - can I order one? xoxo Let me know, my email is squigglyrainbow@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteMuch love Rach xx
These photos of your two girls rolling around playing is really sweet, they look so similar. I hope the sewing went well today. I finally finished a pressie for my nephew for the weekend and tonight I need to try and finish my first row of a ripple blanket, it's taking me ages. xo
ReplyDeleteA caravan adventure sounds so exciting! LOVE these photos.

I love your sheets. I need to convert a couple of sets here so one is a fitted.
ReplyDeleteI would love to set off on a big adventure like yours. One day we will. I am lucky to have already seen so much of Australia so had best not complain that a big holiday is not on the cards for awhile!
Looking fab!
