My creative Space.

With one week to go until the end of the school year, I am crocheting washcloths and flower brooches for teachers' thank you presents. I am adding a bar of gorgeous Cleopatra soap to make each package smell delicious too

I am putting the finishing touches on my softies. I am hoping to sew them a zippered pouch when Pepper has her sleep today and get them in an express post pack this afternoon.

I have taken delivery of two boxes of stale organic Himalaya Bakery bread.

I am slicing, toasting, crumbling and then toasting again to make bread crumbs.

My place and yours - wherever I lay my hat, that's my home.

I must admit, Tania's My place and yours theme this week, has not been a straight forward decision for me.

Earlier this year Bren rang me when I was picking up the girls from school, to tell me that there was a raging bushfire heading right for our place and what did I want him to take from our house.

The photo albums were already at his parents' house in Melbourne, as were the computer back ups, he had already thought of the girls' treasure boxes but what else? Crazy things ran through my head like my Camper boots and the girl's artwork but not much more.

I had my girls in the car with me and a promise from Bren that he would set our place up, drive up and down our street helping anyone who needed it, and then he would meet me in town.

I kept on running through my house contents in my head, trying to work out what I really needed until I realised that I had my home with me.

We were extremely lucky that the wind changed and drove the fire into the bush just before it reached our place. It would have been devastating to lose our house, but I had my family with me and that's really what home is about.

This is our kitchen table. When my Mum and Dad built their Tassy house a few years ago it didn't fit into their new kitchen so we were lucky enough to inherit it.

Our kitchen table is where so much of the good stuff happens here. We eat, discuss, play, cook, craft, computer, entertain, plan...I could go on and on.

Although we would never be able to evacuate with it in an emergency, our kitchen table is the center of our home.

Birdies, flowers and bags.

Last night I made one of Lucy's little birdies. If you can crochet you should make one. Lucy's tutorial is so easy to follow and the end result is gorgeous. Bren has asked me to make him a brown chook to hang from his rear vision mirror.

I am a little bit obsessed with making these tiny flowers at the moment. They are the perfect brooches, hair clips and parcel decoration.

We have had a crazy Sunday full of visitors, Christmas parties and Birthday parties, I guess that's what happens at this time of the year. How fantastic are these goody bags my wonderful friend Nell made for her three year old's party?!

I hope you have a great week and tick lots of things off your lists. First thing on my list is washing the school uniforms for tomorrow morning.

Saturday crafternoon.

I am crocheting a rainbow of Michelle's Grandma Twinkle Stars. They are so easy and quick to make. The perfect Saturday afternoon kitchen table project.

Indi is using my old Bernina to make an owl softie called 'Princess'. She is going to be a very pink and girly owl.

Jazzy is threading a necklace for her teacher.

And Bren is trying to distract Pepper with a Dick Bruna-a-thon.

Yesterday's challah is calling to be made into toast with jam for afternoon tea.

Friday morning.

This morning I have been stressing about the gorgeous softies on Pip's blog and trying to make myself feel better by thinking that if I can get a few of these in the post on Monday then it wont be too late.

Is it my imagination or does that green one look less grumpy this morning?

The girls are back at school.

I adore my ducklings but I think its important to miss them too.

I am thinking about end of year 'thank you' prezzies for the teachers.

And I'm making challah dough.

After I press publish, I am going to get into my work clothes and pick some veg for market tomorrow.

My creative space.

In my creative space today I am crocheting another Kokeshi doll. I'd love to know the secret to making them seem cute, mine seem to look cross.

Bren is pouring me love heart lattes. Behind my coffee you can see the artwork we are working on for the postcard designs we will release to announce the January opening of our farm shop.

The girls are doing sticker mosaics. Its pretty crappy being sick and having three kids at home at the same time. But it does make life a lot easier when I remember some of their birthday prezzies I had hidden away for times like these.

I am crocheting more soap savers.

And I have a bit of a baby shoe production line going on.
