What are you up to today?
I sewed the final seams on these dresses this morning and when I took the girls outside to get some photos they couldn't stop jumping in them. I guess some dresses twirl, some skip and these jump.
I made the dresses from the picture on the front of the Sandi Henderson Claire dress pattern. Next time I think I'll make some room and open the enormous pattern sheet and trace the pattern pieces.
I love the way these dresses look so summery and happy and girly. I love the mixy matchy vintage floral sheet prints and I love that my girls are so excited with them and love them so much.
My parents have come up for a few days and are teaching a cooking course at our local neighbourhood house today. Indi and my cousin Romy are going to the course. Bren is going to a bio dynamics field day and Jazzy, Pepper and I are heading into town to go on the tourist railway.

And yes, they are still wearing their jammies underneath and have holiday hair.

And allow me to introduce you to my new nephew puppy, Zero. I bet you can almost hear my girls squealing from your house. I tell you I am so tempted to knit that puppy a bonnet.
I hope today is a wonderful day for you and yours.
Oh and I almost forgot, Bradbill from The Plaster Fun House In Ballarat has updated his magazines to include some women's mags from last month!! I think we'll be heading back there before the holidays are over.
Love Kate

So funny about the mags!! Love those dresses, the style is so lovely. Now that daylight saving has arrived (today) it's really starting to feel like summer is on it's way. We finally had a warm, dry, day today and we are excited.
ReplyDeleteThe dresses look adorable on the girls (and so does the puppy). Brad certainly seems like a good sport, not many men would react so quickly to critism haha!
ReplyDeleteJak x
Great vintage dresses Kate - they are lovely - and Sandi's pattern is a bit daunting to trace I agree !
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear your folks were able to escape ;)
Oh to have such a working holiday - and what a good excuse for a break - hope everyone has a great time at their classes :)
I vaguely recollect something similar to the large print pink floral on my bed when I was little. In 30 yrs do you think oppy/crafters will be as delighted with our current 'good taste' for plain-dyed sheets?
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful dresses, sooo pretty and girly. The cute little puppy is crying out for a bonnet. x
ReplyDeleteperfect!
ReplyDeleteI love them :)
Love the dress but the most important question: does it twirl?
ReplyDeleteLove the dresses, I've decided you must have a pretty amazing vintage sheet collection because so many beautiful pieces keep appearing from it. Oh and yay for Brad, gotta love a business that listens to it's clientele!
ReplyDeletethe fabric in those dresses are stunning ...
ReplyDeleteThe dresses are GORGEOUS! isnt it great when your kids get just as excited if not more than you when you make them something!
ReplyDeleteYay you got a Jack Russell!!! In a little while you will be glad he is your nephew puppy and not yours if he is true to JR form...they don't mature for a number of years. He is adorable tho ;-)
ReplyDeleteLove the dresses - beautiful -
ReplyDeleteCecilie
They are so colourful and fresh looking! Great pattern and style for your girls.
ReplyDeleteWe had a barbecue with friends in the backyard after me trying to garden and rake to disguise the fact that our lawnmower is getting repaired and the weeds are taking over 'Day Of The Triffids' style.
Thanks for asking! x
Yumm, those dresses are good enough to eat. I'm sure I slept in them at my Nana's house when I was a kid! Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI certainly can hear the screams. My children are counting the days till they can choose a kitten so I know how you feel. (Never thought of knitting a bonnet though) Love the dresses, they are such fun and totally unique, I'm not surprised your girls are so happy.
