Dreaming.

I can't be bothered being a mother today. I'm tired of telling them not to pick up the puppies by their necks or legs, not to bring sand inside, to be nice to each other, to wait a sec, to put their plates in the sink, to clean this up before they pull that out, that they can't possibly be hungry again, that clothes aren't dress ups..........

I want to play with this pile of gorgeousness instead.

The book I won in Tracy's wonderful giveaway. The gorgeous skein of her hand spun that she so generously included and is begging to be knitted into a beanie. And the pile of fats for sun-hats that we chose yesterday after a wonderful crafty girls picnic in Ballarat with Andi, her kids and her parents (who said I look the same as I did last time they saw me 20 years ago!!) and with Jodie, Rachel and Maya, Lizzie and Annie.

For some reason my idyllic picture of sitting on the sun lounge with my knitting and an iced drink always ends in me being covered in sand from their 'cups of tea' and having to get up a hundred time to fetch more water.

Oh well, they'll all be asleep in about ten hours.

Have a great day!

  2. Oh this is what I feel like today too! I just had a rant about 10 seconds ago informing all 3 of them about screaming indoors. Just close your eyes and count to ten.

  3. That sound soooooo familiar! Counting down the hours with you Kate - sleeping babies mean busy mummas (but not normally outside with an iced drink enjoying the sunshine unfortunately).

And a belated Happy New Year to you and yours too!

  4. I know. We need selfish time ALL the time. Makes for a wonderful life. O and a maid and butler too. AND a nice neighbour to maw the grass and wash the car. I wish!!! ( although my nice neighbour did mow my grass the other day because I let her daughter have our better trampoline). Cherrie

  5. Ha, I had a very similar day. Tried sneaking a few minutes to myself in the room and that was a no go. Sometimes we just need a glass shatter/sound proof room where we can keep an eye on everything that is going on but not have to totally deal with it. :P here's to bedtime!

They don't know that other kids dont :)
I have loaded music into my iphone, put in the ear thingos and let them know I am having a little "holiday" for 30 mins.
    Very nice stash of goodies.
And, how is that star vegie patch coming along?

  18. I think we are living the same life ... just today I pulled out some of my favourite books to just sit quietly in the sun and have a flick through. Instead I got climbed all over, stopped many a fight, got yelled at ... the list goes on and on. But now FINALLY the kids are in bed and it is BLISS. Being a mum is hard work - I hope you have a peaceful night catching up on all the things you love - just for you!

  19. I hate to admit it, but I've been trying to escape from my darlings all week. Well, since yesterday when hubby went back to work. I have managed a couple of hours of busy gardening in the afternoons - the trick with my kids is to wear them out in the morning and then they're likely to be happy with their own company in the afternoon - but they are only little. Good luck for some mama crafting time! And I'd love to see your sunhats when you've made them.

Thanks so much for stopping by...

I do read every single comment you leave and appreciate it very much, but I should let you know that I can be a wee bit on the useless side when replying to comments, that's just me, everyday life sometimes gets in the way....so I'll apologise now, just in case.
