Indi and I spent a week COVERED in sand fly bites and ended up in an antihistamine haze, we had to spend a few days in a town waiting to get our car serviced, we had to spend time in fluorescent shopping centres buying supplies and prezzies for an upcoming birthday, we spent hours on the phone dealing with issues from home and we realised that we are more than half way through our trip and are in fact heading home.
Real life stuff.
But then yesterday we woke up really early in Karratha and drove all day long until we reached Exmouth. We all had excited holiday butterflies in our tummies. We were heading back to the beach.
This morning we woke up and drove to one of the most magnificent beaches we have ever seen.
Turquoise Bay!!
Turquoise bay is part of Ningaloo reef and the only beach I have ever been to where you can swim right off the beach and onto the reef. It was so exciting to have the fishies swimming all around us.
It was mind blowing to snorkle out a bit further and watch the gorgeous reef fish swimming about in the coral and watch our excited kidlets as they learnt to use their snorkles and watched the under water world beneath them.
We are back!
Have a wonderful, wonderful weekend friends.
Happy travels. x
Wow what a beautiful beach :-)
ReplyDeleteOh Ningaloo, how I wish we were there with you! One of our favourite spots when travelling around Australia. I loved the turtles, crabs in trees, red dirt...
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful and glad you're back in holiday mode ~ I hope it lasts until you get to the farm gate (at least)!

ReplyDeleteOh WOW Darling, I'm as envious as the glorious colour of the ocean :) Thrilled you're over what might be the worst! Hey meant to ask did you find any beach glass?
ReplyDeleteHuge hugs for a wonderful, bite free weekend for you ALL ♥♥♥♥♥
What an amazing place!!! We had dinner with two Queenslander friends last week who are on a two month tour of the UK. They reckon it would take us a year to do something similar in Australia, visiting points N, E, S and W. We have started planning ...
ReplyDeleteWow that water is a fantastic colour - so makes me want to head to a beach
ReplyDeleteOh Kate, it looks so beautiful. I'm glad you've found your holiday mojo again.
ReplyDeleteThe name of that beach is so beautiful - let alone the place itself!
ReplyDeleteSo happy you guys are back in holiday mode, the shopping centre must have been a bit of a shock to the system!
Much love, xxJ
I'm a Perth girl and have been following your trip closely, we have done a few road trips ourselves, in N.T and loved pictures of the hot springs, we loved that spot as well, up top of W.A. from Broome up and also spent quite a few holidays in Exmouth and our absolutely favorite place in the world is Turquiose Bay. One holiday while away with friends Brett and I hired a couple of scooters, packed a picnic and scootered there for the day the 2 of us, swimming, snorkelling and cherishing every single minute.
ReplyDeleteAnother unforgettable moment was 4wdriving along the town beach and stopping to watch the whales frolicking just of the beach and listening to them talk to each other, a moment I will never forget. You are in one magical spot, Exmouth and it's surrounds are the best!!!! Have fun Mx
Those real moments are what will help you treasure all the more the special journey you are on. Happy travels.
ReplyDeletehow absolutely perfect!! putting this beach on my list of places to visit asap!

Ahh the bluest of seas. Hope you got to see the amazing Aboriginal Rock Art at the Burrup Peninsula while at Karratha. We are huge tea tree oil fans for the pesky beach bites! Wishing you good days ahead.

ReplyDeleteMagic spot! I love how the current just takes you from one side of the bay to the other while you enjoy spectacular underwater view. enjoy soaking up that sun. it's freezing cold and raining here at the moment. . . but sure to warm up by the time you get here!
ReplyDeleteWhat stunning pictures of that beautiful sea! It sounds to me like the perfect way to end a not so perfect week. I keep seeing pictures on blogs of beautiful warm weather & crystal beaches, I'm a little jealous of all you holiday adventurers at the moment, enjoy!!..x
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that your excursion back to reality was balanced by the aptly named Turqoise Bay showing off in all her splendour! Happy days!
ReplyDeleteOh Kate, that looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteWhat stunning water. If that doesn't make you want to swim and frollick like a dolphin...I don't know what does!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing, isn't it, Kate! There are just no words. Between you and me, I spent the whole time terrified I was going to be eaten by a shark but then that's just me. I also think every truck driving behind me is not going to stop in time and that every single bee is just dying to hunt me down and sting me.
ReplyDeleteMan I am so taking my family on a trip to all the WA hunts you have been too...infact I want to pack the car now and head off, maybe over Xmas :)
