Make Hey - Give Away!!

The lovely people at Hardie Grant sent me a copy of Pip Lincolne's new book, Make Hey! while the sun shines . We picked it up at the post office when we were driving through Carnarvon in WA. It was actually addressed to me, but you know what?? I didn't actually get to look at it until a couple of hours later.

My girls ran away with it.

My girls loved it.

Miss Pepper loved looking through all the brightly coloured, beautifully styled pictures.
Miss Jazzy loved pointing out all the projects that she NEEDED me to make for her.
Miss Indi took the longest. She studied every page carefully, reading and going through the patterns and recipes and lists and working out what she could make herself.

Even my self-confessed, crafty-challenged friend Trish loved it!

When I finally got my hands on Make Hey! I completely understood the excitement. In her introduction Pip says 'This book is about projects and ideas and even nice things to cook. It's all about sunshiney fun stuff to make and things to put you in a dipping-your-toes-in-the-river-shady-picnic-popsical kind of mood.' And she's totally spot on. It is!

It's a great book. It's a beautiful book. It's a happy book. It's a spunky book. You would love this book, I know you would. It even has pictures of the cutest old caravan in it.

And lucky for you, the wonderful peeps at Hardie Grant have given me one copy of Make Hey! to give away to one of you. Hooray!! So leave me a comment below. Tell me something. Anything. We'll pick a winner on the weekend.

(Unfortunately this giveaway is open to Australian residents only.)

Have fun and be kind. xx

  1. creating stuff (mostly wooly) helps me to forget the less nice stuff in life. I'm newish to it, and totally won over.
I'm proud to say that every single gift I am giving this Christmas, is made by my hands. I have not walked into a shop.
On saturday I may purchase one or two gifts from the sisters markets in Brunswick, but I'm okay with that, because someone elses hands have lovingly created it.
The economy is getting a big fat nothing from me this year :-)

  3. I need something to get my sewjo back maybe this will do it. Although I am sure it will be "borrowed" by Charlotte and will led to lots of projects she wants to make

  4. I will tell you that I have just discovered that my weird cats are obviously over the novelty of base jumping down our Christmas tree and are now eating proceeding to eat it. I wonder what pine needles will do to the feline intestinal tract?

You might have preferred a crafty comment but that's all that I have at the moment.

  5. I already have a copy but would love to win one to gift to somebody else! It is a great, inspiring book.

  8. We are so knackered around these parts that we now rely on play school to tell us what day of the week it is!

  9. There is a big basket full of vintage sheets in the original packet in one of the op-shops (maybe salvo's, sorry can't remember the name) in Mount Gambier if you happen to go through on your way home. I took a few but lots of lovelies left.

  11. So.. you took the Caravan thru Carnarvon.. did that not feel odd or what?!!
It does look exactly like a sunshiney book & I think we should at least all aim to say the word sunshiney at least once a week!

  12. I would love a happy book!

Tell you something... well, Antartica is the only land on our planet that is not owned by any country.

I like the idea that there is a big bit of land out there that just belongs to itself. :)

  13. It looks like a great book. If I ever get around to cleaning the last craft mess off the table I might have the space to make something new! Oh for a craft space just for me.

  14. Hi there! My thing to tell you might appeal more to the kids than to you, but my useless pice of information for today is that Giraffes can not cough!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I like the bit about the popsicle! And I love the idea of the kids checking it out cause that will happen here too with plenty of grand plans and creations floating around their minds. Safe rest of your trip home for Christmas. X

  16. Well now, I was just thinking of you today Kate. I was in an Op shop that sold books about op shops! Where to find them etc...I'll swap you! You do take bribes don't you!?!

  18. Pick me, pick me!!! Lol
This was on my "Christmas List" for hubby to buy me but he has already informed me that didn't make his shortlisted items. He saw me reading this post, and said that one didn't make my shortlist. I must have looked disappointed lol cuz he then said "oh crap,,,should it have???". Yup it should have, for that matter any of Pip's should have but they didn't. He said he thought I had enough crafty things on my "to do list" already and I really didn't need any more....Well I say pffft men! lol what do they know about the "need" to drool over crafty books, even if it means adding to your to do list!!!

  19. Did you know that the easiest way to multiply something by 11 is to separate the digits you're multiplying 11 by and place the sum of those digits in the middle?
    eg. 11 x 25 = 275 (2 + 5 = 7, place 7 in between 2 and 5)
    another eg. 11 x 36 = 396 (3 + 6 =9, place 9 in the middle)
so there's my random thought of the day, happy travelling!

  20. hehehehehehe totally love photo of the two Guys having a look at the book ..maybe they will get crafty now hahaha :D

  23. O thankyou. I've never held a Pip Lincolne book in real life. You inspired my post last night by your comment about living in a copper art home. I don't really believe it but hey! even I have Copper art goodies in my eclectic, curbside deco house. I shared the last book I won online with a special friend and still haven't had a chance to read it properly. Cherrie

  24. I have just spent the last few days packing up my downstairs studio and relocating upstairs. Its been a 5 year wait and i'm excited. Not as much as the kiddies as they will finally get to have their own rooms instead of the 3 of them sharing.
I've lost my crafting mojo and need some inspiration.

  25. Hav yet to have a looksy through Pip's book! I have pledged my eternal devotion to her since I taught myself to crochet from her magnificent video tutorials.

  26. Hi Kate. I have barely commented on while on your journey but I have read and enjoyed each and every post! Did you know that almost everyone I have told that I am pickling eggs think that I am weird and that they sound gross. They are pressie for my sometimes very pommy Dad.
    Love to you all, Mx

  28. Oh, I would very much love a spunky book! My creative side has taken a backseat with the 4 smalls around but as soon as we get back to our little farm in the new year things will change. Some inspiration from Pip would do wonders. Oh, and I can tell you I'm onto my second G & T :-D

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm having a bit of a creative drought around here..there are only the merest bits and pieces being crafted around here..and would appreciate the inspiration madly!

  30. 'Merkan here, so I won't be a winner, but I wanted to be sure everyone knew that all three of Pip's books can be got through Amazon.com. This looks perfect for crafts and drafts night (creativity and beers!)

  31. That is SO FUN that you can get mail on the road. I did that in Europe 'poste restaunte' of something...didn't think of doing it here, I remember you saying you got mail before and I kind of wondered about it. Tell you something huh? We have picked apples- our earliest EVER, it's been an early season for lots of things this year. It's stone fruit season- our nectarines are amazing- also picked today apricots (and jam made), white and yellow peaches. For the first year ever bloody blackbirds ate our blackberries- about 4kg (Cam reckons) they made of with- I had jam plans for them too. Our blueberries are ripe- small crop but it's early days for those bushes. Garlic is scattered all over my loungeroom as I type...I could be braiding it but I'm not. It's been a good garlic year for us, I love garlic. I hope this makes you look forward to getting home to your own fruit and vegies, because fresh picked is pretty ace, as you know.

If you should pick me I live in the Uk ~ so I would donate the prize to your craftily challenged friend Trish ~ we all started somewhere! Love Christa x

  39. Hmm what can I tell you. A story:

... Chef texted me yesterday with this "Red is coming to dinner with his Mexican Fiance"

We haven't heard from Red for three years but it is so typical of him to show up with no warning- and we love that. always a great surprise. Obviously a lot had happened since we last spoke 3 years ago and I was busting to meet her and see red. When I got home they arrived and met at a meditation retreat in Mexico. She is gorgeous and friendly and funny and I loved her!! So excited and happy to see them both and see Red so happy and we are invited to their wedding next year in MEXICO!!!!! Wooot!!!

This story has nothing to do with winning any books but that craft book of Pips does look fabulous and I would love to win a giveaway. xxx

Still trying to figure out how can I plan the day; rather it is a drawing lesson, story telling, craft session, cooking or just simply doing nothing? Well. I wish I have a guide as I am not confident in teaching and I would love to have someone to share their steps of how they going through this.

What a challenge before Christmas. (At least a challenge for me.)

    Hope all is well.

It's also been a beautiful reminder of our (similar) trip last year(child free though)...wishing we were back on the west coast of our beautiful country. I feel sad to read that your trip is almost over...anxious for you as you face the realities of returning to the regiments of being back home...you will more than likely experience a sense of loss and displacement...but you will always have the many, many, memories of the past 6 months...unique, well done, congratulations.

I'm looking forward to continuing to read your posts when your blog reverts to a 'craft' blog too! LOVE LOVE LOVE the look of this book... I know I shouldn't, but I usually do judge a book by its cover! I'd love to win, but just in case, I'll add the book to my 'wish list' so I don't forget the title! 103. I'd love to win the book! I run an online community craft group with over 200 members called 'Stitches for Sisters' and we're always looking for crafty inspiration for our projects which we donate to women and children in developing nations.

Good luck with the last leg of what has been an amazing adventure. Enjoy reacquainting yourself with the house and the farm.

Thanks so much for stopping by...

I do read every single comment you leave and appreciate it very much, but I should let you know that I can be a wee bit on the useless side when replying to comments, that's just me, everyday life sometimes gets in the way....so I'll apologise now, just in case.
