Yellow.
I am obsessing over the colour yellow at the moment.
It's so strange. Usually I am a bluey, greeny, grey-y kinda girl. Usually I barely notice the warmer side of the spectrum. Usually yellow is just that bit too close to awful orange and has me averting my eyes.
But at the moment I love yellow.
Give me lemon, gold, blond, daffodil, mustard, canary, straw or honey.
I think I must be sunshine deficient or something.
Whatever the weather, I am desperately trying to convince my farmer boy we need a yellow wall somewhere in the house and maybe, just maybe a yellow quilt or cushion.
How about you?
Are you loving the lemon?
Or are you hovering somewhere else on the colour wheel?
Bye! xx

Loving yellow big time.
ReplyDeleteI'm normally a green chick myself, but I have seen a few beautiful yellow pieces of furniture lately that have me thinking...
ReplyDeleteyou never know!
Rach x
i'm the same!
ReplyDeletei blame the influence of pinterest :)
~Dee
Still red polkadots and aqua for me ;)
ReplyDeleteLove. Yellow.
ReplyDeleteHave been having a "thing" with mustard for QUITE some time.
There is the barest touch of orange in that first photo... I'm shocked.
I dig the reds! I seem to choose all shades of red and can't help myself. Have to admit, I do love the colour of that skirt. It's lovely. Regards, Anita.
ReplyDeleteI can't get enough of orange especially that fresh pale tangerine orange. oh so delicious. Enjoyed reading about your travels and can't wait to see what 2012 brings your way
ReplyDeleteI'm loving your bits of yellow Kate. xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. I love yellow too and actually have fallen a little bit in lust with orange too. Never thought I would write/speak that!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, thanks for the tip Dee. A search for yellow in pinterest certainly came up with the goods.
ReplyDeleteThat stack of vintage fabrics is glorious!!
ReplyDeleteI'm addicted to what you call the "awful" orange ( and god forbid teamed with brown!), and I blame the vintage revival.
ReplyDeleteYellow (or orange) teamed up with grey is one of my favorite colour combos!
ReplyDeleteYellow is me! It has been my favourite colour for as long as I can remember, I love it so much. The warmer and sunshinier the better.
ReplyDeleteMost of the walls in our house are yellow...all except bathroom, toilet and laundry areas.
You'll be loving the tangerine next, Kate LOL
(apparently it's the "in" colour this year.
xxx
Your yellow pics are beautiful. I keep finding a bit of orange sneaking in, especially with grey
ReplyDeleteWhile I am a purple girl mostly, in our old house we had one small wall of our kitchen painted in a lovely buttery, eggyolkey, warm sunshiney yellow.
ReplyDeleteI miss that wall. It was an instant burst of happy.
I have been all about the yellow, particularly saffron and mustard, for the past five years. I like it alone or combined with avocado green for a 70's vibe.
ReplyDeleteI am loving yellow so much at the moment - not sure why? I have just bought yellow nail polish, am eyeing off a yellow and white tshirt and am about to attempt my first furniture restoration project by painting an old side table bright yellow. Maybe it's a summer thing.....
ReplyDeletei tend to be a red and turquoise girl. loving your yellow inspired photos though. the tea cup & saucer is especially nice!
ReplyDeleteI was never a real lover of yellow until I had Cohen, then yellow, navy and grey seemed to be a perfect combination I'd always overlooked. I wonder if my colour love will change with this baby?
ReplyDeleteAnd may I say, that fabric, swoon!
:)
I know why (she says mysteriously) because you wish to be happy and you gravitate towards the colour you need at the moment you need it.
ReplyDeleteMore on this later as I have to go make a salad, x
Pretty, pretty, pretty...especially that tiny butter plate! so sweet xx
ReplyDeleteCaught myself looking at bright yellow lampshades the other day & I want to put yellow pineapple cushions all over the house.
ReplyDeleteYELLOW, ORANGE AND RED at the moment...with a hint of brown, green and pink but NO Blue...I just can't do blue anymore! I love your sheets....I think you could make a nice cushie coer with one or some of these... :)
ReplyDeleteI've always been a bit of a red girl, but I've recently found myself becoming a green girl and have embraced the green wholeheartedly. I always was a yellow girl though. Right from the time that I wore my yellow terry toweling dress to see Xanadu at the movies. A very, very long time ago ...
ReplyDeleteYellow is my daughter's favourite colour at the moment. Such a happy colour - egg yolks, daffodils, sunflowers, cheese, tumeric, polenta, corn, butter...okay enough with the food!
ReplyDeleteYellow is the best. Its my other favourite colour beside brown. Its such an innocent happy colour I think.
ReplyDeleteSO yes I totally get the yellow love.

PS One day i'll hear you saying well perhaps you were wrong about orange. poor old orange.
I've been loving yellow too here lately and like you I'm usually drawn to the cooler blues and greens maybe it's just the year of yellow fever!
ReplyDeleteI love love love orange and purple and pink. Yellow is OK but not nearly so nice. Certain shades like lemon are nice to wear and look fresh. Other shades like mustard are a bit less so and are not so much to my liking. I prefer warm shades of colour to the cooler ones. This means I find blue not so nice. However I do like green a lot. Sometimes cool and hot mixed together are best of all. Generally I love all colour. I find it odd that any colour would be considered nasty.
ReplyDelete:-) Like you I'm more green, blue, brown kinda girl, but thanks to my husband (who loves yellow) and daughter (who loves orange) I'm starting to appreciate the warmer, brighter colours. Love the skirt on your photo, dreaming of dark orange dress for myself.
ReplyDeleteI'm mostly a red and purple kind of girl but I have been spouting for months that mustard IS the new black. Unlike custard which is the new tuscan peach ( and still the colour of my walls unfortunately) That skirt is fabuloso. melx
ReplyDeleteThe less sun I see, the more I love yellow too. Great pics, Kate. x
ReplyDeleteYellow is my favourite colour! It's just so bright and fresh. I even had a yellow car, it's the safest colour! Love yellow!
ReplyDeleteI have always had quite an aversion to yellow as I have thought of it as a colour that does not suit me- in terms of clothes to but lately have been also liking particularly with grey... I don't know where this has come from but I want more of it round. I even bought a yellow chevron cushion for an outside chair as I thought it needed brightening... I think what I like about it is less is more- you only need a little bit to make such a difference to a room. But I am still orange averse. xx
ReplyDeleteSO FUNNY!!!! I started my blog post yesterday and guess what it was about.... YELLOW! Except the ipad crashed with the pics and my camera wouldn't download! hehe.... I'm on hooked on yellow atm.... will link in with your post today when I get my pics uploaded! xx Rach
ReplyDeleteI am a huge fan of yellow but always have been. I remember back when it wasn't such a cool colour but now it's in vogue I am loving seeing how others are drawn to it :)
ReplyDeletelove yellow! such a happy color. and i love pairing it with a navy blue :)
ReplyDeleteOh I think I am the same! I just bought some sandals in a mustardy yellow. Every ball of wool I have bought recently has been a shade of yellow. Of course I only realise this when I bring it home!
ReplyDeleteThere is something so happy about yellow. I am definitely a colour person (not too into nuetrals and black). Just so much happier to wear isn't it?
Just ordered Mustard yarn!!! I am normally the pink/purple/blue girl, but have seen claret/burgundy with mustard and have fallen in love.

My eyes were opened to yellow (I'm more of a raspberry red person) when my little girl was about three and fiercely passionate about yellow - she's 5 and a half now and still loves her golden hues. Since then, I've come across 4 kids who LOVE yellow above all other colours... and they're all left handed. Surely a random accident, but it makes me smile!
ReplyDeleteI'm normally a pink and purple girl, but lately it's been greens and blues, maybe io'm trying for calmer colors subconsciously!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos.
I brought yellow sandles this summer, would never have normally but i am obsessing over yellow too!
ReplyDeleteI love yellow too! I have a yellow vintage dinner plate the same as yours (bottom right) which I always enjoy using : )
ReplyDeleteYou kinda have to feel cheerful around yellow - it's just so sunshiney!! Have a fab week hon.
ReplyDeleteLove yellow! I've also opped that same sheet on the top of your stack in the first photo :)
ReplyDeleteI've liked yellow and red for a long time, but have found that the blend to ORANGE is really coming on strong lately. My yarn binges lean toward the orange. My new Christmas stocking will be yellow/orange/red and it was going to have choc brown, but I think I can stop already unless I'm planning to make on big enough for climbing into!!
ReplyDeleteYellow is such a happy and bright color!
I like yellow, but unfortunately the colour just doesn't suit me at all. Love all the photos above though!
ReplyDeleteAll about orange these days...but your yellows are riveting!
ReplyDeletexx
I've always dreamed of a breakfast room with a sunny window and butter yellow walls. I don't know why but the thought of drinking juice and eating a hearty breakfast while reading the paper in a room like just seems wonderful... especially when its wintertime. So I can completely understand your love of yellow.
ReplyDeleteCindy at Rosehaven Cottage
I'm not a yellow girl but I love that pile of fabrics. Makes me wish I was the kind of person who could, you know, do something with them...
ReplyDeleteOh yum. All of those golden tones are so lovely and sunny. I'm a green girl usually.
ReplyDeleteYellow is a great colour, we painted gold our entrance and whatever the weather when we get in it looks like a sunny day, so soothing for the soul.
ReplyDeleteI love yellow - but I also love orange - I have a yellow wall in my entry way and an orange wall in my living room (it is just a little wall though!). I say go for it!
