Well last night I had a similar life moment.
I CAN KNIT!
Thanks to Leonie for faxing me through the hat pattern.
Thanks Mr Google for putting me in touch with all the online lessons for casting on, knit stitch, purl stitch and stocking stitch.
And thanks Bren for putting up with my ignoring you all night last night and speaking the instructions to each stitch out loud over and over.
I do find knitting a bit clumsy compared to crochet and it is much harder to pick up stitches once you have pulled a section apart but I am starting to find the rhythm and I am really enjoying it.
If anyone out there has some inspiring knitting sites, ideas or patterns for beginners I'd love to check them out.
Now your going to have to join ravelry.com since your knitting. They have lots of crochet too, wonderful patterns for anything you like and it shows all the projects people have made, with any changes made to the patterns, etc. So much fun! Your knitting looks beautiful too, what yarn are you using.
ReplyDeleteYay!!! yay Kate!
ReplyDeleteI agree join ravelry, heres a link to my fave pattern for a knitted wash cloth, it uses basic stitches - knit and purl in a 4 row repetitive pattern and is a really lovely texture IMO.

Wow, not only can you knit but hasn't the colour and yarn come up a treat? It looks beautiful! Well done
ReplyDeleteWow, all that in one night!!!! Super huge effort. Congratulations, its BRILLIANT!!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful Kate! Well Done ! You appear to very talented with both knitting and crochet too. I agree with the other ladies that Ravelry is the best online site to join ~ lots of patterns for knitting and crochet and a place to show case all your finished items. Once you join you will wonder how you ever managed with out it. But be warned ~ and I am speaking from experience here! ~ that it is so very easy to waste lots of time in the land of Ravelry just browsing :O)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! There'll be no stopping you now - you'll be seeking methadone for knitting too!!! PS Your bowls below are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteGreat work with the knitting Kate... Before long you'll be a pro... :)
ReplyDeleteI'll 3rd, or is it 4th, the suggestion to join Ravelry... It's AWESOME!!!
Take Care
Jodie :)
I'm not surprised that you have taken to knitting like a duck to water, nor that what you are working on looks beautiful!! Are you enloying the different rhythm and pace of knitting? I have a pattern for a dear, little echidna/hedgehog which I will email to you! xo
