Bren doesn't like the elasticized over skirt but I do. It vaguely reminds me of my deb dress, only my deb dress had lots of rosettes in the gathers and was a bit more tizzy.

oooh I think it is really funky - love it
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous! I love the vintage underskirt and the way it gathers on top - very sweet! I think I could wear one of those, and go twirling through the forest...
ReplyDeleteOh I really love it, especially the vintage underskirt with trim.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
Love it...you have a great design eye!

It is beautiful Kate, and nice to know the girls love to twirl in their skirts too, always a good sign! Hope your having a lovely creative day!
ReplyDeleteI adore this, love the over skirt and all the little details.
ReplyDeleteVery sweet Kate x
ReplyDeleteAwesome skirt - I love it & I want one!
ReplyDeleteI think you did a great job. I love the layers, the rouched outer layer gives it a lovely depth. Plus, you cannot argue with a twirling little girl, can you?! that means 'great success' for sure!
ReplyDeleteHi Kate, your daughters skirt is gorgeous, I love your interpretation of the skirt, so vintagey and fresh. I also love your photos, I'm not good with the photos and am finding out ways I can improve. I wonder if you could give me any pointers and does it matter whether you have a big flash camera or not? How do your photos turn out so lovely?

*love*
ReplyDeleteI have this book coming - I hope it comes SOON, but even if it does, nothing I make will be this funky.
I had to scroll through this post TWICE because I was gobsmacked by your skill! and the Boots!!! Thsoe red boots- I love them so much. the skirt is fantastic too- really nice- I bet those will be goign in that shop very soon too!
ReplyDeleteI love it, it's sooo pretty and just what a girl needs for lots of twirling, again I think this would look great in a grown up version just like the jacket you made!
ReplyDeleteI think it’s possibly because I never owned a tizzy Deb dress that I love that overskirt so! Besides girls were invented to twirl!
ReplyDeleteOh...very special indeed!!! I love it!!! Must get my bum into gear...must get my bum into gear...must get my bum into gear...hang on...what was that again!!
ReplyDeleteAce as usual. So how I would love to dress. Love the under skirt on its own too. You are such a clever girl!
ReplyDeleteMy big girls would only ever wear twirly dresses when they were little. They weren't always in fashion so luckily I could sew. I think your new skirt is fabulous. I love how you use sheet fabrics and make them look so unique. Nice butterflies!
ReplyDeleteLooks ultra groovy you sewing legend you!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like one happy little girl.
Just gorgeous! I love the gathered overskirt - it's such a beautiful colour too. Very pretty indeed :)

ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous! I can't believe it's your first attempt at it!!! :)
ReplyDeleteOh you are just too clever! x
ReplyDeleteSo cute Mama. Your girls must be loving that their Mama can make all this gorgeous clothing for them. I saw the cutest skirt the other day and thought of you. It had two front pockets that were solid crocheted squares sew onto floral printed cotton. They were so cute.
ReplyDeleteGreat colours and it screams fun! xo
ReplyDeleteI love it.
ReplyDeleteI made this skirt without the elastic a couple of weeks ago, seeing yours, maybe I'll try one with it next time.
This is so gorgeous Kate, I love the overskirt and the little added bits. How could a girl not LOVE it. I would be twirling too
ReplyDeletetwirling definately a good sign, there's nothing like a good twirl:) and a beautiful skirt. you've inspired me to attempt the dress-making.

I love the overskirt, would love to have something similarly romantic on some of my skirts! Most of all, I keep eyeing off those boots... mmmm, what size is Jazzy? Heh heh.
ReplyDeleteThat's just too precious. Absolutely beautiful. You are underestimating your talents if you call it the 'lazy girls' pattern as a true lazy girl (ie.ME) wouldn't have the faintest how to do it and so would buy one ready made. Well done.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love your version of the Insa! I have the stand alone pattern as well as the book and still haven't made up the exact version, just my own interpretation of it :) I adore her red boots!
ReplyDeleteI want to be 5 years old and twizzle round in a pretty skirt !!
ReplyDeleteWell done Kate
Louise x
