We started shifting stuff back into the white rooms but tried our hardest to be choosy.
We sent Miss Indi off to a Bar Mitzvah party.
We partied like rock stars on Saturday night.
We frocked up and hung out with friends that are more like family, that share our history.
Then we tried to remember to enjoy the rarity that is the seedy Sunday.
We felt our age when it took us days to recover.
We made crazy hair styles for school.
We were informed by Miss Pepper that teddies are stuffed!!
I knitted more stripes for the pipes.
We finished with Miss Pepper's vomits and started with Miss Indi's.
We spent the day in Ballarat while the Prado got a chunky new tow bar and new window seals.
We read cook books from cover to cover and were excited to find our name in Matt's.
I saw Miss Pepper in the door-way and thought it was a four year old Indi.
I ate a gazillion sour oranges off R and J's tree.
I felt swollen with inspiration but itchy with lack of time.
I wondered how people with fringes (bangs) cope with constant rain.
I questioned the wisdom of having a dog.
We baked the apple tart recipe we had been saving for the new cooker.
It's the French Style Apple Tart from The River Cottage Family Cookbook.
I wanted to sit down and write stories here, but with the constant interuptions had to be happy with points. I'll get there.

That pie looks amazing!! It was foggy here in the Adelaide Hills this morning, but it looks like it's clearing off a bit now. I've already collected 3 eggs from my rock star chickens, and yesterday I bought some canvases to collage. Wish my fingers weren't so cold though. Fringes might be tough, I have crazy afro ringlets all over now thanks to the damp grey winter. At least the rain makes one part of my body happy!!
ReplyDeleteit has been rather chilly for june weather - here in canada. i have been making art and waiting patiently for the children to be done with school. your pie is awesome - very autumn-ish. which it is not here - we are all strawberries and flowers here. i am happy and well and good - thank you for asking. :)

ReplyDeleteIt is so bitter cold here in the West this year that I fear I will never feel warm again. Makes me long for an open fire like we had back home. With this chill comes a huge lack of motivation and a list a mile long.
Aside from that we are all well :)

ReplyDeleteI like your 'points'. Mine read ... it rained, there were floods, fell over in mud, dislocated jaw (not as a result of falling over), dog has vomits (hence my typing at 2.30am UK time) and more equally depressing stuff. Well you did ask.

That's one tarty sensation(!) and the rest of the post is full to brimming with the rollercoaster that is a life well lived. Still, I'm finding it difficult to move past the word 'vomit' and the word 'chunky' in the very next dot point. I think this says more about me (and the hang ups), than about you.

ReplyDeleteOur week has been a crazy one with, Mr 4 getting tick paralysis, hospital stays, blood tests, medicines,creams, rain, walking, drumming performances and 3 kids in need of school holidays......luckily they are only 5 sleeps away :)

Your apple tart looks delicious, just the perfect food for our cold weather. I seem to be really feeling it this year. Had a little giggle when I read you had to recover from your partying, just remembering the old days when I used to take an entire weekend to recover and then had to go to work. we had a weekend of sickness here- no vomiting just fever, not us, just Busy.
I feel like this pregnancy is a constant hangover. I don't know how people do it ( go rock star I mean) on a regular basis.

Oh there is such sickness, flu, a drag nothing deadly in our household, week 3. Loving reading blogs, reading books, making poms poms, buying what is in season, looking up old recipes and cooking. The sickie can still eat so I am making all the faves and that French apple tart is beautiful to look at and I am sure equally beautiful to eat.

I cut myself a fringe recently too but since I love the rain I dont care what I look like when in it I guess. Plus I tend to go out only to walk the dog and its dark and late and no-one can see me.

ReplyDeleteHubby and I spent 3 days in Melbourne for my 20 year Uni graduation reunion (= I am officially old) 2 very late nights (make that 2 early mornings) in a row involving alcohol...I am hearing you on the slow recovery time.
Hope that everyone is germ-free now.
BTW your fringe does rock & do do you - it was like catching up with another sister I'd forgotten I had . One that does still hOld my history in her hand. Memories are funny like that- Lucy , Poppa, Fluff , they're all hangin' out enjoying each others company & watching us create a new generation of golden memories. Much love , kutchkee x

ReplyDeleteIt's very cold here is SA and also lots of germs. I just recovered from a 2 week flu - lovely.
I've had a fringe - too much effort for me. I'm more of a dry naturally person and having cowlicks kinda makes one look a bit odd.
I am knitting a nanna wrap a the moment to keep chills of my shoulders when I'm at work. Otherwise plenty of reading.
