Twenty fourth
On the twenty fourth day of the year I tried on a polka dot skirt my sister gave me and when it didn't fit, I cut it up and sewed it into a hat.
I also finished my book, did some washing, listened to a podcast, picked a basket-load of plums, did lots of jobs on the farm, shared a cake and a crafter-noon with a gorgeous family, got stung by an angry bee on my nose, shared the first cucumber we have ever grown, wobbled poor Pepper's sore tooth, hung out in the caravan with one of my dearests and watched the second last episode of Parenthood, sob.
After I post this I'm going to go and work out what to wear to a wedding tomorrow, decide what book to read next, and cut my fringe/bangs.
What did you get up to today?
Wishing you kindness and peace.
xx
PS This post represents everything that is wrong with the blog a day. It's annoying the beep out of me but I can't seem to fix it. Miss Pepper was grumpy about her sore tooth and looks sad in all the photos and I can't help but think - so what? - at all the words. Ugh! Sorry. x

Thanks so much for stopping by...
I do read every single comment you leave and appreciate it very much, but I should let you know that I can be a wee bit on the useless side when replying to comments, that's just me, everyday life sometimes gets in the way....so I'll apologise now, just in case.

Life sounds full and fun at your place tonight Kate. I love Pepper's dress, did you make it too? I admire your sewing skills as always. Have fun at the wedding tomorrow x
ReplyDeleteHello Miss Jane, I didn't make Pepper's dress but I think when I bought it I thought I'd copy the pattern. xx
DeleteHope your poor nose is ok
ReplyDeleteThank you, I'm fine.
DeleteIt was the craziest thing though.
I wasn't even visiting the bees but showing a friend the garden when it attacked me.
The closest hive is usually our calmest/friendliest too. So strange. xx
Hi Kate, I love the hat you made it's gorgeous, and the crochet bird is such a lovely touch.
ReplyDeleteJacquie x
Thanks so much Jacquie x
DeleteMy daughter has that dress! So cute! From h and m, I think? Sorry to hear about pepper's sore tooth :( hope she is feeling better tomorrow x
ReplyDeleteThanks Sonya, I hope the tooth comes out soon it's been awful for her. Hurts every time she eats something and it beds back. xx
DeleteLove the hat, do you have a pattern for it?
ReplyDeleteYep, it's from here - http://makeitperfect.com.au/MIP/Sun_Kissed_Hat.html
DeleteI hope you have a lovely time at the wedding Kate. I like a peek into what you are reading and listening to. Grumpy kids keeping it real. I come here to see what you are up to be it farming, knitting, crocheting, sewing, baking ... getting stung by bee's. Are you OK? x
ReplyDeleteThanks lovely Tammy, I'm fine thank goodness I don't get any reactions to bee stings until a few days later when they itch like crazy. xx
DeleteHahahaha that's funny Kate because this kind of blog is one of the reasons I love reading blogs, yours especially yours! I love to hear the bare facts of what you really do in a day, it's a way to connect and also to normalise our own ups and downs. So glad I'm not the only one who loved the guilty pleasure of Parenthood! Thanks for not giving up on your blog-a-day committment.
ReplyDeleteKate I love reading about your days,Keep it up! Please.
ReplyDeleteRosezeeta.
Hola! Espero que este bien del dolor de muelas tu hija, hay un remedio natural que yo utilizo, es el aceite esencial de clavo ( Eugenia Caryophyllus ) , con una gota en la zona dolorida ya es suficiente, calma el dolor. ...¡ Unas fotos maravillosas!...¡¡¡ Feliz dia!!!
ReplyDeleteHi! Even your "so what" days are an inspiration to those of us in the process of focusing on the simple joys of life. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHad to say I love Parenthood, best show ever. It has me laughing, crying and laughing again every episode! How cool is an Australia Day wedding, very patriotic! Hope the sun is shining down on the happy couple. My nephew turns four tomorrow so we're all heading down to the beach. x Dre
ReplyDeleteI cut my fringe yesterday (24th) too! I also went for a walk in the local nature reserve, learnt about earth element personality types and had chilli con carne in the evening with my love :)
ReplyDeleteThis is what I do like about you posting everyday. Capturing the simple everyday moments. We have had a steady stream of family staying over the road at my mum and dad's, plus a golf trip away with my youngest. At the end of the week my husband's uncle and aunty will be staying with us. It is lovely catching up with family but I wish it was more spread out. I'm craving my quiet, simple days pottering around our home and garden. I hope Pepper feels better soon. Take care mumma xo
ReplyDeleteAnd Pepper's hat and dress are gorgeous. xo
DeleteI'm glad your nose is okay, cos if it were my nose, it would be swollen up like a balloon! And that would not be a good look at a wedding, though it isn't your wedding so that makes it a little better.
ReplyDeleteHope Pepper's tooth comes out soon - will she get a visit from the Tooth Fairy?
I am enjoying your blog a day efforts, Kate. It is the nature of the beast that sometimes to you it may seem mundane or grumpy or a bit down (or insert whatever it is that is giving you the beeps about today's post :] ). That's life after all and that's what you are making a record of. It makes the positive, uplifting, inspired and beautiful shine all the brighter. Today (well last night actually) I started knitting a scarf for Winter. For the first time I am using Australian fine wool (real wool!). That's a big step up for me as I am very much a beginner knitter. I was surprised how comfortable I was doing it despite our 35 degree heat here. It must be down to the wonderful nature of wool. Life- enjoy the ride :)
ReplyDeleteParenthood is one of my favourite shows also- and Offspring!! I don't bother with much else on the telly. How did you get Parenthood? I have been crook this past week and am behind in the blogs I read. Hope your nose is feeling much better soon. I'm so enjoying your bits of news everyday.
