Butterflies and beanies.

Two nights ago I crocheted this beanie using Amanda's latest pattern. She is such a clever cookie that Amanda is. I can quite confidently say that out of all the girlie beanie's I have crocheted, this little number is my favourite. Its quick and easy too.

After my last project took two months to complete, it is wonderful to start and finish something in one night.

Yesterday we had a meeting with a woman who we might do some work with. She showed us her figures and gave us loads of examples of what she does and how she does it, but what really won me over was how lovely and accommodating she was of my three year old who didn't really want to be there. She gave her pens and paper, she included her in the conversation and sent her/us home with some gorgeous olives, cheeses, dips and other fancy produce made in the area.

Last night I started another one of Amanda's beanies in the blue cotton with the purple waiting patiently to be next. Ooh, I wonder how it would look with a crocheted flower on the side.

And this morning we are painting each others' faces (her's is above, you are not going to see mine!), my butterfly is eating her very gourmet morning tea and I am about to bring all the soggy washing in from the line (summer? what summer?) and chuck it on a spin cycle.

The Flutterby Skipping Dress.

This is dress number two in my Everything But The Thread range.

I started this dress a few days ago. It started out as an a-line dress made from the tablecloth fabric at the bottom.

As is usually the case with me, I made some of it, got interrupted and then hung it on a hanger on a hook in the kitchen so I could look at it as I went about the rest of my day.

The more I looked at it the more I didn't think it worked.

So the next chance I got, I cut it up and made it into a completely different dress. A three tiered Skipping Dress.

One of the first skirts I ever made for Indi when she was about four, was a three tiered skirt and she called it her Skipping Skirt. From then on, all tiered skirts/dresses have been called Skipping Skirts/Dresses in our house.

This dress has op shopped denim, sheet, table cloth, lace, bias binding and a zipper. The corduroy is from my scraps drawer. I think it is a size 5/6.

I hope you are enjoying your Sunday. Its the first one we've had off in six months (apart from the farm chores that still need doing). I'm about to make some toasted sandwiches for lunch and then head into town for Indi's singing concert.

Winter skirt.

So this is my first attempt at a wintery skirt for this year.

This skirt is the lazy girl's version of the Insa skirt from Sewing Clothes Kids Love. I say lazy girl's, because the pattern pages that come with the book are so thin and flimsy and difficult to navigate, that I had a quick look at the pieces and then followed the directions and this is what I came up with.

I used a mixture of vintage sheets for the underskirt and yoke and some cord for the over skirt.

I sewed on some crocheted butterflies and ric rac and some pink lacy stuff.

Bren doesn't like the elasticized over skirt but I do. It vaguely reminds me of my deb dress, only my deb dress had lots of rosettes in the gathers and was a bit more tizzy.

Jazzy likes it.

I could barely get her to stop twirling during the photo shoot which is always a good sign.
