When we first started talking about this trip all those years ago, it was the west coast of Australia that excited us. We had heard stories of glorious beaches with the bluest water and the whitest sand. Of turtles and dolphins, of rugged wilderness and undeveloped coastlines.
We dreamed of days spent on the beach building sandcastles, digging holes, walking, swimming, surfing the waves and learning to dive under them. Slow days with a bit of a routine. Afternoon siestas. Cocktails and salty chips overlooking the beach at sunset.
We are here!
We are in Broome in Western Australia, across the road from Cable beach.
We are falling in love.
Happy Father's Day to all the best Dads in the world.
And especially to Bren, the most incredible Dad of my lucky girls, and to my Dad, Bren's Dad and my grandad. Us four girls adore you all.
Happy adventuring.
xxxx

You said yesterday that it was the first time you'd missed the farm; well, today is the first time I've really truly wanted to be where you are.
ReplyDeleteDesert & dirt & rocks (almost mistyped as jocks..) & long stretches of flat road do nothing for me, but the beach... THAT beach, the blue sky, the beautiful water, the sun..
Officially jealous. Enjoy it, soak it up & plan to not plan a thing.
I was just reading about you in the Ballarat Enterprise magazine :) Sounds so fantastic to be at Cable Beach. My work does a turtle monitoring program there November - February and I would love to experience it too.

When I was little I was always attracted to story books with water in them. When I see the top photo I know why - that beach looks beautiful and I'm guessing that water was as good as it looks.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time there - what a magical experience for you all.
Have I mentioned that I'm green with envy??!!

ReplyDeleteAhh, Broome!! We are off to WA for a big move in January and I can't wait to get back west side, most of all to cross the Nullabor in the car rather than the train which is how we got back last time when our car plonked it. Was just given your blog details by Hadas who thought I might like it. How generous to pass your details on! I"m going to live vicariously through you and your travels until January when I get back on the road. Thank you! Amber www.mamamoontime.com
ReplyDeleteOh Sweetheart! What an intoxicating time you must be having. I so admire your gumption in hauling the family all over this fair country of ours. You are such an inspiration. Loving the vicarious trip J x
ReplyDeletepoor broome :: its about to get ruined by big diggers. :((
ReplyDeleteps. they closed town beach today for crocodiles!!!!!!!!!
Sam and I used to work at the Shire. We'd knock off work at 4:30pm every day, and be right there on Cable Beach at 4:35pm. he'd run to gantheaume point and back, like the mad man he is, while i swam and strolled. then we'd watch the sun melt into the ocean. ah i miss those days. i'm glad you're getting to experience the magic. xoxo
