anew

How great is the start of a new project.

I love that bit. It's all full of new materials and patterns and plans and ideas.

Today I spent the day alone with my farmer boy and now I feel a bit new projecty. We talked and planned and walked and really nutted some stuff out. It's been a while since we've had the time to really concentrate and focus together. Not on any one thing in particular, but on our life and our family and our farm.

I was feeling really stuck on a few details. Like I couldn't get past them. Like I was giving them more attention than they deserved. Like they were dragging me down.

And now I feel inspired. Excited. Happy. Free.

Ready to take on the new week.

And ready to spend every spare moment hooking up my new nine square sampler blanket. The theory is that I'll keep the new project feeling right the way through because I'm only doing nine of each block. Well that's the idea anyway.

Ravelry deets here.

I hope you feel inspired and full of exciting plans.
I hope the sun peeks through those pesky clouds.
And I hope you are cozy.

Have you started a new project lately?
Are you planning/reading/cooking/planting/making anything exciting?
What's inspiring you right now?
How are you feeling about the new week?

I hope yours is happy and wonderful!
I really do.

I'm off to have a bowl of barley and vegie soup.

xx

    1. I love the 'me' plan.
Mine would start with a walk, a haircut, a greens and fetta salad and some new undies.
      Have fun.

  3. This week I feel a clarity that I haven't had in ages. I think sometimes we need a really crappy week to put things in perspective, make us think and solidify what we know. I feel ready for the world again.

  4. I love your squares! Beautiful colours like jewels. I have been crocheting face washers from some beautiful bamboo yarn but I am temporarily distracted by an excellent book at the moment.

    1. It's funny, I was just thinking about face washers this afternoon.
I haven't made any in ages and we need some fresh ones.
I'd love to know the name of the distracting book.

  5. Those colors are amazing! They almost look like pots of spices in an Indian bazaar. And it looks to me like they reflect your happiness - fabulous.

  8. i love that new project feeling, almost as much as the opportunity to just really nut stuff out with my love. good for you! i'm reading whatever i've picked up in the op-shop, making my own bread and taking a whole-chook challenge, inspired by your beautiful post from a while back. need to sew a costume for book parade this week. not feeling the new project love, there, however ;)sarah

  10. You are very clever and thank you for giving me some perspective!!! At the moment I think I am running backwards but it is good to stop and take a minute to reflect on what you have done and where you want to go. Stuff that is meant to be fun sometimes feels like you have to move a mountain to get to it...

  11. I hate the feeling stuck on projects thing, I'm trying really hard to see what has been achieved as opposed to what still needs to be done. Trying to enjoy the moment and not keep looking forward! Finally we have sunshine, but alas I will be stuck at the computer earning money to pay for more projects...sigh!

  12. I need a new project, but I can't think what! I'm loving your squares, especially those grey edges. Thank you Kate for your comment on my last post, it made me smile & feel very lucky..xx

  13. I love those colours with the grey edge. I am currently working on a large granny square (as in one continuous granny square, not small ones) to use up some wool that I have stashed away. It isn't inspiring me all that much but I know when it is finished I will like it, well at least I hope I do lol.

  15. I LOVE your new project, and wish I was braver with crochet. What yarn are you using? I'd love to start a new project, but as I have way too many WIPS, I have given myself a goal to complete as many outstanding projects before I am allowed the joy of casting on a newbie! Love your blog

  16. Looks fab Kate! I'm so into grey at the moment - perhaps it's a reflection of winter? I'm about to join my crochet hexy's with grey but at the last minute switched to white for some odd reason!

  17. What a wonderful start to your week I have been craving..needing...desperate for some time alone to chat with my man. IN the mayhem that is parenting it is so often impossible to get a word in edge ways. I'm struggling to find time to think at the moment. Other that what colour playdough is requested, what to make for dinner, should I get that washing in or will those clouds pass blah blah. So lovely to hear you feel all invigorated after such a chat. You have a special thing with your beloved! Plenty of plans circling around here jut trying to decide which one to pluck down and start doing rather than day dreaming. Wishing you a gorgeous rest of your week :) x

  18. The colours are inspirational. Been following your blog to keep up my crafting mojo. But I'm just really compelled to comment with this one as I really love this colour combo. Good luck with this project! (who will be the lucky recipient of the finished blanket when it's finished?)

I do read every single comment you leave and appreciate it very much, but I should let you know that I can be a wee bit on the useless side when replying to comments, that's just me, everyday life sometimes gets in the way....so I'll apologise now, just in case.
