Sometimes people don't behave as you'd expect.
People can be strange.
Today I'm holding my gang as tightly as they'll let me.
I'm wearing stripey tights.
I'm focusing on the great people in my life.
I'm filling jars with daffodils.
I'm walking the farm and its almost springness.
I'm taking deep breaths.
I'm looking for silver linings.
I'm trying to ignore the feral weather.
I'm counting my blessings.
We're making lemon cakes and preserved lemons.
And we're making plans for lemon curd and lemon cordial.
And lemonade.

Ah, thank you Kate. I needed to read that after my day. You have reminded me to take some deep breaths, count my blessings and metaphorically wear my stripey tights tomorrow! Enjoy the lemonade...

Seeing so many lemons reminds me of one more use of it in India: To safeguard one's house from bad omen, we in India tie a lemon and some green chillies with a string and hang it on the front door of our house!

ReplyDeleteYay! for lemons. Isn't it great that when there are so many lurgies lurking out there at this time of year there are Lemons, full of vitality and zestiness and copious amounts of vitamin C just waiting to be sucked, drunk and eaten..yum!
ReplyDeleteYep, people can really disappoint you. And you're right, you just have to try to focus on all the good stuff. Not always easy though. What a bounty of lemons! What about mulled wine with clove-studded lemon slices? And pancakes with lemon and sugar? I have a great recipe for lemon butter. email me if you'd like it.

ReplyDeletePeople can definitely be strange, it's maybe even worse when you think you know them... However, yay for lemon curd and daffodils! We have only one miniature daffodil in our little garden (so far). I smile when I spy it through the window, we are all feeling very ready for spring. x

I agree we are such a strange and odd species. I was in a room last week with 250 people, of those only about 6 struck up conversations, mind you we were in this room( a jury pool )for 6 hours on and off.
ReplyDeleteAs for lemons I love them, so versatile and I have made several lemony things in our school kitchen in preparation for our fete. By the way Stephanie Alexander's old fashion lemonade is what we've been drinking around here.

Daffy's & blossom scented crisp air, spring is only 1 day away! Spring cheer is almost upon us, and spoonfuls of homemade lemon curd straight from the jar to mouth is bound to bring a little more! :-)

We are also having lots of lovely lemons and while I really dont get time for preserving etc we are loving them fresh over salad and in water and with fish YUM! all the best, Sue
