Her book Alzheimer's a love story will be launched at Readings in Carlton tonight and to say I am proud and excited is an understatement.
Since realising that I have been doing the wrong dc's, I am struggling to finish my softie for Mirabel. I am looking forward to crocheting her some outfits though. I think a bright red dress might fix her up a bit.
Opposite where I sit to type this are these two spools waiting to be played with. The one on the left is a paper twine with wire through it that I think would hold it's shape really well if crocheted into a large form. I have quite few ideas for experimenting with this twine. The baker's twine on the right is just lovely with its red and white stripes and I am dying to see how it crochets.
I am trying my hardest not to start any new projects until I have finished my softie and to be inspired by these potential projects. But it is really hard.
For lots more creative spaces and inspiration pop on over to Kootoyoo.
Thank you so much. I can't wait to taste those cookies. Today I feel like a bride or a debutante.xx
ReplyDeleteI hope tonight is a great success and lots of fun. It is great that after all those years of watching you do your thing while you were growing up - maybe dancing, sports, school assemblies - you are now able to go and watch your Mum.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the softie and with trying not to start any new projects!
Best for tonight! What a wonderfull accomplishment for your mom!
ReplyDeleteI would love to see the softies' outfits!

ReplyDeletegoodluck tonight, that must definitely be very exciting and satisfying for you all especially the lady of the night.

Kate is that bakers twine rough and tough? Or soft?
ReplyDeleteDo you remember the kitchen Scrubbie I tried to crochet with the fishing rope/twine? Would it work for that do you think?
Have a great time at the launch!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful for your mum, and for you too. You must be so excited for her with her book launch. The softie is looking great and I am sure she will love a new outfit. The twine looks very nice, cant wait to see how it turns out. Those cookies look so yummy, I am sure they wont last long tonight.
ReplyDeleteI hope the launch goes really well.
ReplyDeleteI have nearly finished reading the book and am loving every page!!!
Andi :-)
I totally thought that first picture was of lemons, artistically arranged on your floor! I was reading and trying to figure out how they fitted in. Duh.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting to be going to your ma's book launch. I'll have to get my hands on a copy... hope it goes really well.
Have fun tonight Kate! I can't wait to see what happens with that red and white twine and I think a red dress would be lovely against the purple xo

ReplyDeleteOh...good luck mum...I am sure it will be a fantastic night and congratulations to her!!!
ReplyDeleteoh, I know how hard it is to not start anything new! can't wait to see how those twines crochet up, it should be very interesting!
ReplyDeleteYay for your mum - hope it all goes well. Love that bakers twine and can't wait to see what you do with it.
ReplyDeleteCome on, share the cookie recipe Mrs Fields!
Just wondering if you needed a 'taste tester' for those mini bics?.. Tonight will be wonderful, your pride in your Mum's achievements is evident to all.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to reading this book, since your competition some time ago, our "pop" has passed away from Alzheimers, it is just so aweful. So I applaud your Mum (again) for telling her tale. Peta
I have had bakers twine on my wish list forever.... did you source it in Australia??
ReplyDeleteGood luck to your mum for the opening!!
It is SO hard not to start new projects when you've set yourself limits because you want to finish one. Sometimes I think I want to start more projects when I've set myself a deadline!
ReplyDeleteI hope tonight is a raging success! I'd like to read it myself, so it's great that the launch is finally here :-)
WOW - how exciting. I hope it all went well and looking forward to hearing about it. Love the bakers twine - where did you get it???? Nic xx
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time at the opening. My book arrived last week. I'm saving it for a hospital appointment next Thursday where I'll be able to sit and relax in the peace and quiet and just read.
ReplyDeleteAll the best for tonight!
ReplyDeleteBy wrong DC do you mean the UK vUS version - I always get that round the wrong way. Best idea if the book doesn't have a stitch guide is to check where it was published (at least that's helped me)
I'm sure the softie will work out though - and with a red dress she'll look fab!
The cookies look great, good luck with your mum's book launch!
ReplyDeleteCookies looks great! Congrats for tonight =0)!!!!
ReplyDeleteI have been sitting opposite Patch Andi for two Thursday evenings running and she has rave reviews for your Mum's book. I will be getting myself on the case! Hope the launch goes most excellently. Stand proud Mum!
ReplyDeleteYAY for your Mum. That's pretty special that you get to clap for her you know. Usually Mums are doing the clapping for their kids... make sure you do some clapping for me too!!
