The silly billy dress ll.

So we all agreed it was a great idea to have another go at the silly billy dress. But how come none of us thought that it might not be such a brilliant idea to make it out of the same sheet that Pepper got stuck in last time, and had to be cut out of?

When I walked towards her with the new version wanting her to try it on so I could work out the hem length, she screamed and ran in the opposite direction. 'I don't like the silly billy dress, I don't like the silly billy dress,' she shouted at me over her shoulder.

I tried to convince her that this was not the silly billy dress but a new, nice dress but she didn't believe me.

In the end, I bribed her with a piece of banana bread.

As soon as she finished eating she asked to get changed. When she saw the dress lying on the floor next to her she said to me 'That is not the silly billy dress, that is the banana bread dress!'

  1. No, not silly that time, really sweet in fact!! Mmmmm, banana bread, it's the Kootoyoo recipe isn't it?? Must try that tomorrow morning, children always hungrier on weekends. They should be tired after a busy 4 days of school. Love Posie

yes, god, I am surprised you got it on her- that BB must be really good.
We buy Busy banana bread from a shop locally - a couple of times a week as she really likes it- they call her the bananbread baby when we go in now. Its one of the few foods she will eat. ( yes sometimes chef makes it at home but he makes it at work so hates making it at home) I lvoe the dress!

  8. Oh my heck that post cracks me up. Our poor guniea pigs, I mean, children. They put up with a lot from Mamas like us. But then again, throw yummy food in the mix and I say that's an even trade. ;-)

  14. Pepper was right to run away! I can still remember my mum chasing me around trying to get a piece of unfinished sewing on me for a final fit (always with pins in it!!!) Banana bread might have just brought me around too though. Great post, great dress, cute model.

  18. never one to give up, Kate perservered until she had it just right!
My kids won't eat anything with bananas and wouldn't be caught dead wearing old sheets - perhaps the secret was to get em young! Too late now for me, I'm afraid.sigh

  21. silly billy II is lovely but I can't get those gorgeous images of silly billy I out of my memory, I still vividly remember (now with fondness & amusement) my homemade school uniform with the rectangular checks going the opposite way to everybody elses.
Priceless memories, don't destroy the evidence.

  39. I love that banana bread dress!...and just had such an enjoyable little read back through your blog. The tale of the Silly Billy dress cracked me up - and I related in the most terrible way to your sewing process. I'm the same - LOVE to sew, but possess the opposite of the character traits nescessary to do it well...
