What if it was all really about the styling and the fixing?
What if I am antisocial and don't feel like making new friends?
What if something bad happens back home?
What if I have no personal space?
What if we only have access to crappy food?
What if they don't make friends?
What if something runs out of batteries and we can't charge them?
What if they just fight all the time?
What if I have forgotten how to slow down and unplan?
What if I forget something important?
What if someone gets sick or hurt?
What if something important gets lost or stolen?
What if we are being too ambitious?
What if I have packed the wrong things?
What if....how long have you got??
ps. I am excited too. Very excited. I just want to acknowledge and record some of the day before feelings. Eeeeeeep, one more sleep.
See you on the road. x
You will cope xxx
ReplyDeleteMedicines, glasses, money and maybe some undies. That's all you need. Hope it is as wonderful as it looks like it will be. Cherrie
ReplyDeleteAnd the dice!!
ReplyDeleteWhat if you never gave it a shot? It's going to be GREAT!
ReplyDeleteWe are all coming with you...so to speak!!
ReplyDeleteWe can't ask ourselves 'what if's' Kate...we can only look ahead and enjoy the journey that is about to unravel :)
ReplyDeletebesides...what if this is the best thing you could ever do? :)
I'll be thinking of you hitting the road tomorrow and look forward to you sharing your travels with us.
xx
Go!
ReplyDeleteGo well!
the worst what if would be what if you were just too scared to follow your dream of an awesome caravan adventure where you get to meet some of the bestest people ever and go to some of the most spectacular places ever!
ReplyDeletex
What if you never went and spent a lifetime wondering "what if..."?
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the start to your journey tomorrow. Embrace the "what if .."
xx
wowsers, one more sleep! once you get going you'll wonder what all the worry was for and you'll have the time of your life!
ReplyDeleteWOW!! one more sleep you're going to be great...there will be hard times too but allow yourself to go with the flow of things. AND have a wonderful time!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be amazing Kate. Likely to be filled with "what if" about turning right instead of left, spending an extra night, departing early etc. BUT I think there are plenty of "what ifs" at home too.
ReplyDeleteGo well, go safe, go strong.
Love
Kirst

One or all of those things could happen...and even then, you will be just fine. There will be challenging days, hard times, squabbles and mayhem; but there will also be wonder, magic and little miracles along the way. Breathe deep and roll on sweet mama!
ReplyDeleteI wish you the moon and stars, have the time of your life!
One! More! SLEEP!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck! It will be a wonderful adventure. The girls will look back and think wow my parents were so adventurous taking us on this trip... it will inspire them to take chances in life too. Get out of your comfort zone and great things can happen! Can't wait to read all about it, so please keep blogging!
ReplyDeleteWhat if it is the best thing you will ever do as a family?
ReplyDelete:D
This sounds so epically fun! cant wait to read of your journeys!
I understand the anxiety, I am like this whenever I have to go.
ReplyDeleteSomebody taught me:
- do not project
- one day at a time
it works! All the best for your big, big adventure.
Oh my goodness Kate - what if you didn't have a blog to use as your free therapy. Are you really a worrier or just ensuring you've ticked all the boxes?? I think you should consider "what if you never want to stop travelling" as a much bigger danger!! I know my guys in new places love it so much!! You'll do so well, it's your time to shine & your family will embrace it. You're not heading to the south pole, you're still in an English speaking country with a huge adventure - i can assure you we've had wallets stolen, dead mobile phone batteries & a sick child in worse places. Have a ball, love Posie
ReplyDeleteWhat if you don't go............?? You'll regret it, just stop thinking and go for goodness sake and ENJOY!!
ReplyDeleteLizzie

ps. safe travelling... :o)
What if you have an amazing adventure and the kids remember it for the rest of their lives?
ReplyDeleteDon't listen to any more what if's just go and have an amazing time...looking forward to joining you on the journey.
ReplyDeleteAh , brave ones, off you go into the un-known, which will become known. best and warmest wishes for you on your wonderful and hopefully 'wonderfilled' trip...don't know if you're heading to qld but do feel free to look us up and pop in for a cuppa, xoKate
ReplyDeletehave a wonderful time. just enjoy and live a simple life. who is looking after the vegies. sorry, I am in love with my purple sprouting broccoli right now.
ReplyDeleteJude
Just last night I read this quote about travelling:
ReplyDelete"It forces you to trust strangers and to lose sight of all that familiar comfort of home. You are constantly off balance. Nothing is yours except the essential things - air, sleep, dreams, the sea, the sky - all things tending towards the eternal or what we imagine of it." Cesare Pavese (used as a preface to The Comfort of Strangers by Ian McEwan)
Even if all of your what if's happen, you'll be fine. And when it's all over you'll forget about the small inconveniences and remember the big stuff. So excited for you!
there are a tone of what ifs in life.
ReplyDeleteenjoy this precious time with your beautiful family.
take a deep breath and just enjoy the ride ♥

What if ... you didn't go and missed out on all the madness and mayhem and most especially seeing your girls growing from the experience you are offering them.... I think you are all going to have an absolute blast... we will miss you - didn't catch up after all that so if you email me a snail mail detail on the road will send something to you.
ReplyDeleteTake care and most importantly HAVE A GREAT TIME
Merrilyn
xx
You will be fine, but all those worries are just natural. I can't wait to hear all your updates - have a blast on the road.
ReplyDeleteEmbrace it! There is nothing more exciting and magical than an adventure.
ReplyDeleteAnd...if it all goes tits up (which I highly doubt), you can just turn around and come home.
Have fun x Kate
Adventures are full of "what if's" - I think that's their appeal. But I get you - I'm a "what if" person too. Please check your mailbox before you go - I hope my parcel makes it to you in time! Nic x

ReplyDeleteWe all love you.
Have a safe, brilliant trip you lot.XXXXJ
What if you dont feel like blogging cos youre having way too much fun?
ReplyDeleteAnd if all the things youve packed are the handmade from home variety then all will be fine.
We will be anxiously awaiting that very first post from the road, ive been preparing myself for a week now, x
Dear Kate, Bren and girls.....Have a fabulous time xx
ReplyDeleteI just handed over a favourite book of ours to a new Day Care Mum who has been getting all my stash. It has a c/d with it and we used to listen to it in the car all the time. Its hard to let this one go because its like letting go a bit of a dream. The book is Are We There Yet by Alison Lester....I'm sure you know it and at the moment it is reminding me of you guys. :-) Take care and have lots of fun!
all the best- you will have a great adventure. We have friends that have been on the road for 7 months and they are having a ball!
ReplyDeleteWishing the adventures one might find atop the Magic Faraway Tree. Go well. Have fun and don't forget to wear knickers if you are wearing a skirt and it's windy....
ReplyDeleteLove you, Ab xxxxx
Travel well, travel safe!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read the first installment
"from the road"
xo Jen
So very exciting:) Remember to let me know if you come anywhere near and we can catch up.
ReplyDeleteHave loved every minute of your preparations........can't wait to "go" on the journey with you all when you head off. You will have the adventure of a life time AND you will be the cutest campers on the planet!!! x
ReplyDeleteWhat if you decide not to go and then regret it for the rest of your days? You are going to have an absolute ball. Stuff happens, just deal with it as and when, and enjoy the whole experience. I am so so envious. Keep us all updated on your travels. xx
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for you all. One thing about being in the great outdoors .. the worries and the 'what ifs' are mostly left behind. Have a wonderful trip, your children will be talking about this forever .. and remember, caravans jiggle so stow things tightly!
ReplyDeleteValerie
Hit the road Jack. It's going to be a whole bunch of awesome.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is so exciting. Lots of us are 'what if-ers'. It's normal and ok to have all those second thoughts. Whatever happens, just remember you have blog followers far and wide, and if you do need any help on your travels, it's likely one of us will not be too far away. Just holler!
ReplyDeleteAll those things probably will happen. But you know they will as you have already thought about it. But they would have happened if you were in a caravan or not in one.
ReplyDeletexxx
Guys, you'll have a super ace time.....even if you do break down, get flat tyres and get chased by Crocodiles.
ReplyDeleteUnwind, and reject the urge to plan you days.
Xo Ro
Good luck, enjoy, be brave. It will be wonderful and it will be horrible but it will be unforgettable.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy it, go with the flow. Aust post can always send anything you might forget or wish to send home LOL
ReplyDeleteWhat an adventure you will have! My parents took us around Qld and NT for three months in a caravan when we were 14, 12 and 9. Most memorable trip EVER! Fun times ahead! Possibly some flat tyres too, if I recall correctly. Kellie xx
ReplyDeleteYou will handle everything that comes your way when and if it arises. Just remember it will be a whole different life on the road, so everyone will be more relaxed. Happy and safe travels.
ReplyDeletexx Sandi
Oh my goodness, are you really leaving tomorrow??? How absolutely fantastically exciting!!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about all of those things too much, you are going to have an absolute BALL!
Come visit us in Byron Kate?! Anytime you like, we will make room for your stylish van and posse.
Bon Voyage!!!
xoxo
<3 one more sleep ! soon the what ifs will be a distant memory x x
ReplyDeletefingers crossed that it'll all be better than good!
ReplyDeletehave an excellent time :)
I reckon it will take a few weeks to get a rhythm going and the feeling of abandonment that is needed to really enjoy such an adventure
ReplyDeleteThere will be days when all will feel like heading home and a bit of whining (maybe).
If you are heading North then it can only get warmer.
Soooo exciting.
xx
What if you are only human?
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the adventure!
What if you have a fabulous time?
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time away together - it'll sure be an adventure and if caravaning is anything like camping, you'll enjoy the best sleep ever (well at least we did when we went camping for 3 months - living out of the back of our car)!
Can't wait to read about your adventures - the good, the bad and the ugly.
It will all work out, somehow. It always does.
ReplyDeleteHave the BEST time, this is going to be a great journey.
Enjoy X
what if, schemata if. knock yourselves out. there will be good times and not so good but overall it will be a blast. pretty hard to imagine that pulling out of the driveway moment though.
ReplyDeleteyipee for you kate & co.
oh wonderful ... wishing you all the safest and most wonderful of adventures ... go well
ReplyDeleteWhat if it's the most amazing thing you've ever done together?
ReplyDeleteKate, I'm so sorry I missed you! We've only just got back. Anyway, have a wonderful fabulous time!! I'm sure it'll all be more than fine. Looking forward to hearing how you're going :) Kx
ReplyDeleteBeing a big what ifever I understand all of it.
ReplyDeleteSOmetimes I find it helpful to think of the worst possible thing that could happen and try to figure out what I would do if it happened.
Like if you weren't coping at all with it, and it was going badly you could always come home.
which isn't the worst thing. see there is always an answer.
But I know you won't do that, because I know you can cope.
hope you're having all sorts of awesomeness out there xoxo
PS What if I miss you too much????
Oh Kate, the possibilities are endless. Obe day at a time sweet lady. One day at a time x
ReplyDeleteTruly when someone doesn't be aware of after that its up to other people that they will assist, so here it happens.
