When??

So how do you know when its all finished and its actually time to go? Is there a magic sign?

Is it....

When the cushions are plumped up and inviting you to stop, to plop down and have a cuppa and crochet a few rows?

(Please note the coolest organic WA vintage map cushion a la My Bearded Pigeon that we will be stitching our route on as we go. Thanks Cath!! LOVE!! XX)

When the craft supplies are sorted and packed?

(Divine The Textured Leaf pin cushion. Thanks Wendy! xx)

When you would be happy if you never saw a muddy puddle or wet chooken again for the rest of your life.

When the business looks like it will run beautifully and is ready to be handed over?

When there is only a small pile of fire wood left?

When the favourite crockery is stacked neatly waiting?

(Most georgeous doily tea towel by FlowerPress. Thanks Susie. x)

When you have farwelled nearly everyone you know? And some more than once.

When you have nothing left to wear because you have packed all your bestie clothes already?

When the coffee machine is in the caravan and it is too cold to hang out in there to make one?

When the bikes are on the back?

When this year's tax is done? Seriously! Eight days into the new financial year!

When Kate dolly is looking oh so lonely and desperate for company. (Dolly from A Little Vintage. Thanks Jennie! x)

**Jennie is having a 25% off sale in her etsy shop here, pop the code JULYSALE4U in the checkout to claim your discount.

When four bed sheets, four doona covers and 13 caravan sized curtains have been sewn.

When the most hoarded, favourite ever piece of fabric in the stash has been cut up and used as a door curtain.

When Nina Bernina has gone off to sewing machine club med for some well deserved pampering.

When the pile of books on the bedside table is diminishing and the pile on the caravan bookshelf is growing?

When you are so over answering the question when are you going??

When the to-do list is looking scarily finishable?

When keys have been cut and the house minders are packed up and ready to come early next week?

Ahhhhhhhh.....

  2. Oh my goodness, how exciting - you look so very ready to go! Mind you I would have counted the Rancilio being packed as ready (forget the curtains, books, sheets, clothes ... I have a coffee machine, I'm off) so I'm not sure I'm the right person to get an opinion from :)

  3. So.

    When are you going? ;)

I was totes going to send you something for your trip but, well... I didn't make it.

  18. Hubby & I did a 5 month trip around Australia last year. It took us almost 12 months to prepare. In the end we had to set a date. Ready or not!
And we did...it all panned out well, & now I envy you when I dream of the beautifully sunny & warm weather we had in the middle of June. Have fun...this will be something you will look back on for the rest of your lives.
(We lived in a roof-top tent with annexe and a 4WD...your van looks much more inviting!)

  20. Glad to see you haven't down scaled as far as a coffee machine goes - most important! And since it is already in the caravan I'd be away.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Oh, & we've got your coffee machine! LOL...but that didn't go with us, we had one of those split pot things that you put on the stove top.

  22. That door curtain is even prettier than the window curtains. I would say that if the coffee machine is packed, it must be time to go. Have fun :)

  34. Can I suggest if you're going to WA to stop in Hyden (wave rock is there, the kids will love trying to run up it and sliding down) and there is the BEST bobbin lace display for a crafty mum AND a huge (seriously huge!) toy soldier display right next door for your farmer boy to reminisce over. You won't be disappointed - great attractions for such a small town in the wheatbelt of WA!

  35. So excited for you all, you are reminding me of our favorite book Are we there yet, what an adventure. I love the WA pillow and stitching your way is so awesome!

  45. I get so jealous when i see others taking off on caravan adventures when i am sitting in the wet that is Tassie and have to wait till march again for another big trip. I know you will have a fab time (well most of it, its not normal not to have a head twitch moment while on the road). I love how you have made it your own. I was so pleased that we had the vintage with us in our caravan while we were traveling, made it seem more homely...boo hiss to the big white monsters with no personality xoxoxo

    ReplyDelete
  46. Oh, Kate! You are all systems go now. Just brilliant. Have an absolutely fabulous time. I can't wait to follow your little adventure! J x

  49. When we were kids my folks took my brother and I on lots of caravanning holidays, and I can remember well how stressful the lead up always was for them, with all of the packing and organising. But I also remember well that brilliant, exciting moment, early in the morning, when we were finally all packed and ready, waving good bye to the house and heading off down the road! Enjoy!

  50. You and I are both so close to exciting new journeys! Thinking of you sweet Kate as you embark on your glorious adventure x

  51. Kate I am loving a book now and I can't help but think of you and your family. It's called Animal Vegetable Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver...all about food and life, growing veges, buying food locally, heirloom veges, knowing where your food comes from.. I SO recommend it for you, and Meg and everyone.....Wel, remember to look after yourself while you are making sure everyone else in the family is having fun...you have the most beautiful caravan I have ever seen... Seen you next year!
