And now we are home.
All morning we've been weeding, thinning, planning, planting, harvesting and breathing it all in.
Our hands are dirty, our hearts are full.
There's an Indi and Bren baked carrot cake in the oven and some carrot juice on the cards.
Holidays are ace but coming home is best.
Home is where our kitchen garden grows.

Hi Kate, so lovely to see you and your crew and your carrots! Carrot cake sounds sublime.
ReplyDeleteWe have recently been away ourselves and as Kate Berry said on her last blog...the best thing about going away is coming home. On the last few days of our holiday I was starting to get anxious about my vegetables and it was sweet relief to find them fairly healthy and just needing a bit of a tidy up.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend! x
I really like the way you live your life. I enjoy your beautiful pictures.

ReplyDeleteYummy - makes me hungry for salad and carrot cake! I just found a good recipe yesterday for carrot and purple cabbage slaw with a yogurt dressing, but I guess it is the wrong time of year for you to have cabbage!
ReplyDeleteGuauuuu.... hermosa huerta orgánica!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful... <3
ReplyDeleteI could so easily ask you and farmer Bren to adopt me as your 41 daughter! Growing up in Byron Bay in a household with values so similar to yours really makes me dwell on my fascinating childhood with parents who also challenged us with a lifestyle of simple pleasures.
ReplyDeleteGreat to have you all back Kate and can't wait to continue reading, I am constantly motivated by your blog posts.
Theres nothing like growing your own, your crops look healthy.yum to the carrot cake my favourite x
ReplyDeleteWow, love the carrot harvest and the glimpse of your place, it looks idyllic. Coming home really us the best isn't it? But maybe it's absence that makes it so special.

How wonderful, I love this post. Xxx
ReplyDeleteThose carrots look amazing, and they aren't too wonky shaped either, better than my efforts. I usuually have a few that look like they are cuddling, all twisted around each other. The kids think they are pretty funny..
ReplyDeleteI drool... even though my day began with a "green juice".. I still drool. Taking from the earth that which you have planted... enjoying, ingesting, gifting it... certainly one of life's greatest treasures...♥♥♥
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful. Your kitchen garden is looking fantastic! Loving the gorgeous cubby in the background too.
ReplyDeleteLove this! I spent a few hours in our veggie patch with my big girl today. It was bliss. xx
