Genki giveaway.

Ok, here's the thing: two of my sisters and my Mum and I are sitting here waiting for the surgeon to call to tell us that Dad is out of his operation. Then we can go to the hospital and see him.

Today has been one of the longest days of my life. We've walked the city streets, we've had coffees and picked at sandwiches and now we're here and waiting and occasionally I'm knitting and I need a distraction.

So to take my mind off it, I thought we'd have ourselves a bit of a giveaway. Well actually my gorgeous friend Chanie did. She wrote me a letter the other day. Have a look, see what you think and leave a comment below.

Dear Kate,

When Genki created the “I love craft” tee it was inspired by women like you. Not a flash in the pan kind of craft girl, but the one that weaves the beauty of craft into her everyday and by sharing it with others makes the world a better place.

Excuse the soppiness, but as someone who’s very new to craft (but always admired from afar), I now get what all the hype is about. While my work is often messy, crooked and a little dodgy, I’m hooked.

I love having a peek into your life via Foxs Lane and enjoy the warm, funny & insightful comments from your beautiful community of readers.

So here is a pressie from Genki to a lucky Foxs Lane follower who is a lover of all things crafty. I have an “I love craft” Genki tee to giveaway in the size & style as chosen by the winner (see photos).

All they need to do is tell me what's the next crafty project on their to do list.

In case they don’t know this already, Genki tees are all made here in Melbourne from 100% Australian or NZ cotton and are limited edition.

Good luck to everyone!

Stay genki,

Chanie x

The boatneck t is also available in white with green print.

How cute are those t's! I hear all the cool crafty gals will be wearing them this year.
Check out the rest of the Genki range and Chanie's blog.

We'll choose a winner on Friday.

And thank you all sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much for the emails and comments about my Dad. I and in fact my whole family have been moved and overwhelmed. We really appreciate it.

Update: The surgeon called. He's out. It was a success. We're off to the hospital now.

Printed T's 4 sale!

Hello!

How's it going?

I had such a great morning this morning. I had breakfast with an old friend of mine who I haven't caught up with in ages. I was her brides maid and my kids were her flower girls when she got married, I was with her when she birthed her baby. But still for some reason or other its been a long time between lattes (or champas).

There was so much to catch up on. So much has changed. But still I was relieved that nothing has changed between us. We chatted for ages and then I came home all inspired to do some screen printing and look what I found when I went to get my supplies...a whole pile of t's I printed last year.

I printed the trees here, the owls here, the caravans here and the seals here.

So, here's the thing: I want to move them quickly and you need hand made prezzies for the end of the year. So I have popped them in my shop at $16 each with free postage to anywhere in Australia.

That's right!
There are lots of designs and colours and free postage in Australia!!

I'll be adding more over the weekend too, I've just run out of time to photograph them.

I hope you have a great weekend!
I hope you get to catch up with an old friend soon too. Its such fun!

And for all those who emailed asking where to buy Solvy, I'm so sorry but mine was gifted to me and I have no idea where to find more. Maybe try your local craft shop.

See ya!

Just like that.

Sometimes it happens so quickly, things change, move on.

One minute the leaves are luscious and green on the trees, the next minute they are turning red and falling to the ground.

One minute I'm rushing to the sewing machine every spare second I get.
I'm dreaming up fabric and crochet combinations and planning a Julie and Julia type exploration of the Sewing Clothes Kids Love book. I had plans of going through the book from front to back and sewing each pattern three times, once for each of my girls.

I've made three garments from this book so far and I love the results.

I'm confident I can follow the patterns...perhaps too confident.

This Imke shirt was meant to be for Indi.
She chose all the fabrics from my stash and told me which bit was meant to go where.
I quickly cut out all the pieces and started sewing.
I stitched together the front and back, the hood and one arm before I realised I was heading for a Silly Billy Dress type disaster.

The shirt doesn't fit over Indi's head, or Jazzy's head and after watching all the goings on, Pepper ran the other way when I looked towards her.

It seems I was in such a rush to get started that I didn't see that the fabric requirements are for knit fabrics or those with a stretchy aspect.

Oops!

So now the book is back on the shelf and I have started a new crochet project, a newborn cardigan.

Just like that.

Out with the sewing, in with the crochet.

Crochet is so wonderful and portable and perfect for afternoons spent at the farm stall. Just like my new BYO coffee cup that I won over at What's For Tea. Thanks Anthea, I LOVE it.

I hope you are working on a project you love at the moment.
I wonder if you stick to it even when it doesn't work the first time.

Have fun out there. XX

Another Insa.

I had another go at the Insa.

I used vintage sheets for the underskirt and red cord for the over skirt. I used shop bought ric rac, crocheted ric rac and a couple of crochet motifs for decoration.

I crocheted the Bebop cardi last October, details here.

Looks like this one passes the twirly whirly test too.

I have that 'the more I sew, the more I want to sew' thing going on at the moment. I am a bit obsessed. Shame the girls have other ideas and plans for the school holidays.

This gorgeous P is for Pepper t'shirt is made by the very clever Samantha. I won it in a giveaway over at her Passion fruit Lane blog. Thanks so much Samantha, we love it.

We're hosting a farm day for the local school holiday program today. I'd better go and put my overalls on.

I hope you have a fun day today. XX
