I'm not very good at boy stuff.
I have three sisters, three daughters, three nieces and lots of girl kids around me too.
What do you make for boy babies?
Thanks so much for stopping by...
I do read every single comment you leave and appreciate it very much, but I should let you know that I can be a wee bit on the useless side when replying to comments, that's just me, everyday life sometimes gets in the way....so I'll apologise now, just in case.

Gorgeous gifts! Your can never have enough bibs!! I tend to make the same sorts of things...sometimes little stuffed blocks. Hope all is well in your world :)
ReplyDeleteThey're adorable Kate. Yeah, I agree, bot stuff is harder than girl stuff. You've done a good job though.
ReplyDeleteI mean't boy stuff...you all knew that right.
ReplyDeleteLittle hats and soft toys like cars and dinosaurs are good for boys too. Like the pants!
ReplyDeleteYou've done a great job on boy gifts! There are so many great things out there for boys, not the most confident sewer myself, but I have purchased some really gorgeous things for my boys from very clever local sewers...
ReplyDeleteYou have done a fantastic job!
ReplyDeleteI've got three sisters. Then my two girls, and three nieces. But then I do have two nephews. What a novelty they are!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE those bibs. The apples and the green patchwork are just gorgeous. I am sure the Mummy of the boy babies will love them. I don't have any little boys (2 nephews is as close as I get) but I tend to make applique tees with rockets and robots on them. You could do a sailboat one to go with those pants!
ReplyDeletei have made them taggy blanket's i shall post them later you should look at my blog there is a lia's blog for a good nappy pouch i now find it a invaluable addition to my thing's and stuff!!!!

yes i find boys stuff really hard to make too. i get asked to make boy stuff quite often and i really struggle with it. girls stuff is definitely easier!
ReplyDeleteOoooh they're all lovely! I have the very opposite problem - all boys, not a girl anywhere!
ReplyDeleteBoy fabrics are extremely difficult to find - I'm having better luck with online shopping from the US as there's a better range.
For new baby boys, I usually makes 2 bibs and a flannelette blankie as a gift.
Bibs are good....boys are messy ;-) My boys now love anything camouflage and have been like that for years now, so in future you could go with that idea and you wouldn't go wrong.
ReplyDeleteFunky dacks!!!
ReplyDeleteThe bibs look great, the applique and the patch work look really unique and special. I have a new nephew and I ended up making him a bib, did a bit of embroidery on some singlets and attempted a stuffed toy but it didn't quiet work out. I think stuffed toys are really cute to give too but just not this time(lol).xo
ReplyDeletei'm in exactly the same space ... practically all girls and no idea what to make for boys. bibs seem a great idea ... but what about hats? Do you knit or crochet?
ReplyDeleteKate, your boy stuff is awesome !!!
ReplyDeleteI love that pillowcase print
Love the bibs and the old pillowcase is perfect as little boy pants! There are some great ideas at http://www.dana-made-it.com/2008/07/celebrate-boy-archives.html - I've found it very inspiring since I find sewing for girls much easier.
ReplyDeleteThose pants are so gorgeous Kate, and I want one of those apple bibs for myself, I'm a very messy eater.
ReplyDeleteI make boy bunnies, in overalls! Hope your weekend got better..lots of love to you xo
beaut bibs, lovely patchwork ones & cute apple.
ReplyDeleteNautical pants are fantastic!!
Those apples are cute!
ReplyDeleteI tend to make the same stuff for boys and girls, just with different colors. I never pass up fabric with cars and trucks. It's not easy to find!
Also, I think about what their parents like. I just made a bunch of bibs with music notes for our musician friends.
Balls! Boys seem to intuitively know how to throw a ball! I can just imagine the gorgeous one's you'd make for them.
ReplyDeleteThe boy things you have made look great- how about some baby dungarees ? Or you could embelish some t-shirts or vests...
ReplyDeleteHave fun

Lovely boy stuff.
ReplyDeleteI think similar stuff for boys as girls. Just a different colour pallette.
I keep a collection of boy-ish fabrics in my stash for such occasions.
Love,
Andi x
Wow Kate those bibs are SOOO gorgeous! And the pants are the cutest... totally fabulous gifts, well done :)
ReplyDeleteI recently had to make for a friends newborn baby boy and I was really stuck for ideas sooooo I made her a cushion with some hungry caterpillar fabric and bought her the book also it made a cute gift
ReplyDeleteim hopeless at boys stuff too!
I must admit that I found it quite strange having my son when I was only used to having a sister and no brothers! Now I have 3 nephews and possibly the twins could be boys too (although Issy wants girls) but I find them easier to buy and knit for than girls for some reason. The bibs look so good Kate - you cant go wrong with those. My son always loved dinosaurs and wearing shorts and t-shirts with some sort of picture on them! He also had a favourite teddy bear too which I am sure all little boys should have! You could always make some of those baby wraps for them.
ReplyDeleteCute! Boys are just the same, just different colours! Mmmmm maybe not a dress lol! xox
ReplyDeletehaha, I got my three year old nephew a pair of chucks(gym boots) from the op shop for $3 the other day. He was so excited he teared up. Which made me tear up.....aaah and now I just have all over again. You're right in that boys 'stuff' is so much harder to figure out. Dinosaurs are always a hit, and frucks, and fracters. (trucks and tractors)At least in my limited experience.
ReplyDeletePS. Those bibs are AWESOME!!
ReplyDeleteLoving those little daks - how cute are they?!
ReplyDeleteI have the "surrounded by boys" thing happening here. While they are bubs, I figure you just make them the same stuff without the frills. Its later that it gets really tricky!
I beg to differ. I think your boy things are gorgeous. And you shouldn't be so hard on yourself, you're surrounded by girls.

Oh Kate you're just so clever. Love all the things you made. I know what you mean about boys. I only have a sister, and daughters, and then my sister went and had a baby boy - it has taken some getting used to! We must catch up soon. x
ReplyDeleteLove your bibs and pants. Cool!
ReplyDeleteI don't really make 'boy' gifts or 'girl' gifts when it comes to babies. Perhaps I'll use a different colour fabric - maybe - really I make thinking of what the mother would like.
Anything reversible! As they are sure to become filthy as soon as you leave the house. xx
ReplyDeleteI have made a few 'boys' things I have no idea what this baby is - the one that is now almost offically overdue... I made pants and bibs. You can never go wrong with pants.
ReplyDeleteApparently I quickly rush and make a couple of cot quilts at the last minute! Love those pants, x
