I've been the mother of a school girl or two for the last four and a bit years and one of the things I struggle with every year is the winter uniform.
The brief from the school is that the girls must wear a tunic and tights, which is not great for the monkey bars, or navy pants.
I cannot stand the look of trackie pants and navy pants can never be found in any shops, except for shiny polyester ones which I cannot stand either.
So this year I decided to have a go at making my own.
I did have to sneak a bit of patterned fabric in the inside of the pockets for a bit of fun and yes, I did forget to hem them before I sent her off to school this morning. Oops!
Two more days until the swaperama deadline.PLEASE don't disappoint your partner who is giving her postie the eye and checking the mailbox every ten minutes waiting for her's to arrive.

Is it colder over your part of the world? We are still in summer uniform until June. But I think you have made some fab trousers with the sneaky bit of patterned fabric! Did you really forget to hem them?!! My poor girls, both of them, have pins in the hems of their school dresses!! Can you believe how bad that is for me?

Looks like you did a good job Momma!!! I bet every other kid in that school is gong to want you to make them a pair of the cord pants so they don't have the wear the polyester ones. :-)

Fabby school trousers ~ very practical too! My two kids have to wear school uniform. I've never done much sewing so can't for the life of me ever imagine ever being able to make such wonderful clothes that you can :O) x

Well done Kate, much, much better than the daggy track pants most of them wear. I know they're warm but they look really sad!! Very stylish your girls will be now, even without being hemmed, the comparison on the last photo says it all!!

ReplyDeleteThey look great! And so much nicer then trackie pants. When I used to teach I loved (not!) my preppies wanting to take off said trackie pants half way through the day cause they were hot...shoes still on. Disaster!! Hope all is well :)

Great idea for your scraps. The tree looks fantastic! I never throw any scraps or threads out. I use them as stuffing in some softies.
