Tuesday.

Its Tuesday morning.

So far today I have somehow gotten the girls to school in clean uniforms and nit free hair. I have baked apple and rhubarb muffins and have bread dough proving, I have washed and hung two loads of washing and done a bit of a house tidy up after the long weekend.

Bren is on the phone to a woman who wants to do an internship with us. I am obsessed at the moment with people realising their passions, how wonderful to be able to help someone discover and live theirs.

Miss Pepper is hot and sick. I can't please her. I couldn't get the temperature of the bath just right, she wants her apple cut up, not cut up, peeled, with the skin on, she wants clothes but not those clothes, a drink that is not water or juice or milk, a grandmother who is in Melbourne, to go to the skate park, naughty Mama.

Playschool is making her happy for a bit though so I can sit with her and do a few rows of my lace trim, plan the blanket/sheet project in my head and feel sad that I've run out of wool about four rows from the end of Michelle/Leonie's wrap vest. The knit version must be tighter because Leonie used 300grams of wool where so far I have used 420grams and am not finished.

I can't wait to finish it and wear it. It is cold here.

This wonderful package came from the lovely Sara this morning. The bizzy buzzy bee even made Pepper smile for a bit when Bren was buzzing it at her pretending to try to sting her. Thank you Sara so much, you have no idea how wonderful it was to receive your gorgeous pin cushion surprise today.

So what are you up to today?
I hope somebody does something for you that makes you smile.

  1. Hi Kate,
You painted a nice family picture 'this morning'...but it is night here! So I'm on my way to bed. LOL Glad your girls got to school in clean uniforms. I struggle to keep my DH in a clean uniform. :) Good Night!

  3. EEK! Don't you just hate it when you have that four rows short of wool malarkey happening? Congratulations on the clean school uniforms thing. I was chuffed enough that there were clean undies all 'round and the kids didn't need to wear bathers under clothes (again) today...

  6. I hope your little one cheers up soon, maybe she is coming down with something. Isabelle used to get like that and then a few days later had a cold. I love your crochet lace, how beautiful. Hope you and your family have a lovely week!

  7. Poor Pepper, hope she feels better soon. You've done well to do so much this morning. I've done the school run, two loads of washing, made a doggy door flap, cleaned the dining room, play area and the kitchen and had about 10 cups of tea. Now to do a blog post and get back to do the school pick up. Love your lace trim, I don't think I could crochet that small. xx

  8. hope the little one is well soon. And I hate apple fits. It makes me want to buy a million apples and fix them all differently just so I can win.

  9. Your lace is making me feel a bit faint, it's really lovely! I'm sure with a bit of practice and a lot of determination I could make something vaguely resembling that but, I'm quite certain I wont.

Pony Girl refused to take off her berry/oatmeal/applesauce/orange something or other stained nightgown for the second day in a row. I refused to care and it has been fairly pleasant all day, though there is a good chance that when she's in the bath and not looking I will spirit it away to the washing, it's beginning to have an odor.

I hope that intern is a passionate and hard worker.

  13. What a day! Hope Miss Pepper is better soon. Sounds like you got it totally right but just being with her when she was sick. Not naughty mama at all! :o)
What did you use for nit treatment? My friend came to the door a month ago when my girls were wearing two tonnes of conditioner and glad wrap on their head. She nearly wet herself laughing. There's got to be a more dignified method!

  15. My friend just cleaned my fridge for me, the ultimate sacrifice!! Did I spot the tiniest bunting in your package?? So cute! I can't wait to see what you come up with. I have to confess I haven't done anything original lately, it's weird how sometimes you have lots of ideas and sometimes none!

  22. Ahhhhh! Just gorgeous, can't believe you have crocheted that trim, fantastic! And I love that quilted dress! I have cut out the pieces of a wrapdress that is reversible from dark denim and flannel checks but not sure how to fill it and quilt it, thinking of putting another layer in from a second hand blanket and crazy quilting it. Yeah, I might do that. Thanks for the inspiration , love your blog.
