Here are a couple of things making me smile today:
Casting off The Acacia pattern (above), trying it on Miss Pepper and her wearing it constantly ever since. I still haven't darned in the ends or blocked it. Raveled here.
Being invited into Jazzy's class to help them make and then outfit some teddy bears. I thought the teacher wanted me there to teach the kids how to do it all, when in fact she wanted to let them loose with the piles of materials. You should have seen the magnificent creations they came up with.
The star shaped garden kitchen garden beds outside the front door waiting to be filled and then planted out. No more driving down to the paddocks for a lettuce, hooray.
Watching the boys work out the exact angles of each garden bed using an iPhone app.
A woman coming up to me in the super market last night telling me I was pushing her shopping in her trolley. Looking over and seeing Bren and the girls with our trolley hysterically laughing at me.
The wonderful and inspiring happy lists that keep being added to the list. Go and read a couple if you get a chance, or even better write your own, its amazing how contagious happiness is.
Telling the girls off for something and having that crazy cat (iPhone app) repeating everything I say in a silly voice.
Liam getting the ute bogged in the paddock in the middle of December!!!!
Two more lots of school lunches to make.
Sooooooo many slow summery days ahead of us.
Berries and Willow's pregnant belly and knitting commissions and sneaky tours of the new school classrooms and blue skies and salads and plans and coffee....................................................
Have fun out there. XX
They are the most awesomest vegie beds!!! I can't wait to see what they look like finished as we are planning a vegie patch of our own at the moment. Will stay tuned!
ReplyDeletelol there appears to be an app for everything...
ReplyDeleteI'm totally loving those Kitchen Garden beds too! Thanks for sharing your happiness Kate : )
ReplyDeleteWhat amazing garden beds - I can't wait to see what you plant in them and I bet you can't wait to be able to pop out the back door to get your veg!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm so going to have to get into more circular knitting - and that acacia vest is at the top of my summer knitting list!
Pepper's Acacia looks gorgeous. I just finished off Isabelle's yesterday to try on and she wore it for the rest of the day refusing to take it off. I will have to sneak in and sew in the ends today! Your vegie beds look fantastic Kate, hope there will be updates. I had a little giggle when I read about you pushing the other lady's trolley - you could have told her you were spreading your xmas cheer! Another pretty dress in the shop I see Kate - you must stay up very late into the night to get it all done.
ReplyDeleteLove the star beds....I love reading blogs from other countries and the language. Here a trolley is a streetcar (which we don't have anywhere near us) but trying to imagine you pushing a trolley...
ReplyDeleteand I only know what a ute is from the ""Australian Jungle Bells" that I have shared with my students.
top garden beds and lush list. I have to skip over the dresses going lalalala as I have no girl. aw.

Wow - that star garden is wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteHow are you finding Big Cartel??x
i-phones... I feel like i am missing out massively on all those apps.... i am glad you like your hearts. xx
ReplyDeleteLook at your kitchen garden beds! They are stunning. Right now I'm using old plastic beehives, so much more modest in scale, but I dream of something like this.
ReplyDeleteI really recommend Esther Deans's no-dig gardening method. It builds up the most stunning soil after a few seasons. This year our artichoke had twenty flowers, when I was only expecting two or three. (Apologies for telling a farmer how to grow vegies - I just love Esther Deans's work so much.)
Good to hear so many things are making you smile. I've been watching the weather and hoping your top soil hasn't all washed away.
Have a lovely Christmas. x
All of that is making ME smile too! I can't wait for those lazy summer days, counting down...
ReplyDeleteI am really taken with the way you have used just a little of the embroidery on the skirt. Very outside the square and lovely too. Cherrie
ReplyDeleteThat's right. I forgot how much I love those garden beds too. Great work on the phone. lol Cherrie
ReplyDeleteLove the garden beds, they look great, and love the little red top too, too cute x
ReplyDeleteI love your attitude.
ReplyDeleteI'll stop growling at my kids now and take a leaf out of your ... amazing looking vege patch!!!
OMG, so much to comment on in this post, Kate. First of all, you with the shopping trolley has me in stitches. That is something I would do (remind me to tell you about the time I started walking away with a random pram!).
ReplyDeleteSecondly, that top is simply stunning. Perfect little girl stuff, no wonder Miss Pepper loves it so.
Thirdly, the little dress and the loveheart garland are loved by me.
Your work is beautiful. x
Love the look of the new vegie head quarters! And that dress is just gorgeous. Glad you are smiling lots today, I'm still grinning about the woman with the strawberries raining down all around her at Coles..funny xo
ReplyDeleteThe dress is gorgeous. I wish it was in bigger size to fit my daughter. I like your positive lists and the star shape garden beds are great idea.
ReplyDeleteKilling myself over you pushing someone else's trolley. Love it!
ReplyDeleteThat garden bed looks fantastic. Who knew iPhones were so very handy?
:)
Gorgeous list! Lov th shopping trolley incident haha I can just imagine!
ReplyDeleteOh I am in love with those garden beds. I think I need something like that in my front yard. :)
ReplyDeleteI laughed out loud at the trolley stealing! Snorty laugh.
ReplyDeleteOMG!! I love so much in this post...that red top yup!! I wouldnt take it of either...those garden beds are inspirational...but the best part.... getting told off by tomkat LMAO a regular occurance over here also :)
ReplyDeleteI'm loving your things that make you smile:) That sweet little top you've made, and that gorgeous garden you'll love using but most of all I had to have a giggle at you pushing someone elses trolley:) It makes things so much easier when we can smile and laugh. Thank you for making me smile too. xo
ReplyDeleteThat dress is beautiful! If only I had girls. I recently salvaged a vintage embroided table cloth that has a few rips in it. The embroidary was too beautiful not to. Not sure what I will do with it yet. I'll bet you could do it more justice than I could though!
ReplyDeleteLove the super market story.
:)
ReplyDeleteyour post makes me happy. espeically the cat/ipod thing because that has happened to me and when it did it made me dissolve into laughter. i kind of puts it all into perspective really.
enjoy your festive season

That is one completely amazing enviable vege patch set up!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh. Your post brought up a funny memory. My older daughter was just a baby and I had a moment to myself while daddy was home and watching her. So of course I ran to the grocery store, which I hadn't done alone in months. Well, I was a little sleep-deprived (massive understatement) and wandering through the produce section with my cart, when I looked down. "What is all this stuff in my cart?" I wondered, "I didn't pick out these radishes..." I looked up and saw an older couple looking at me as if I were an escaped mental patient. I had walked away from my own cart for a moment and then when I got whatever produce I was looking for I just put it into the nearest cart and began to push it around. I realized, after apologizing and giving the (not particularly nice, now that I think of it) couple their cart back, that I was so used to being glued to my cart, since the baby was always in it, that I just reflexively began to push the nearest one, assuming it would be my own. Since I'd never walk more than a foot away from Baby. (= It makes me smile now, but it was embarrassing at the time.
ReplyDeleteVery funny. I love all the things that make you smile.
ReplyDeleteLoving loving loving that star garden bed... WOWZA ... of course you're smiling!!!
