Recharge.

In some crazy coincidence, the stars aligned and none of us had any place we absolutely had to be today. A couple of maybes popped up later in the week, but we stayed strong and said 'no thanks'. So after we picked up Miss Jazzy from her sleep-over and did the farm chores, the rest of the day was ours to do with as we pleased.

And we pleased.

It was slooooooooooow. Two of us never even got dressed. And we ate broad bean omelet for lunch and then pop corn and icy poles and ginger beer and peaches over the day. The girls watched a movie and some video hits and the smallest even had a nap. And we made beads and pottered in the garden, and picked some strawberries and did other odds and ends around the house.

It was all pretty cruisey.

It felt a bit like a battery recharging day. Like the calm before the next few weeks of storm. Like checking things off my what makes me happy to-do list. So much so that nobody had a shower tonight and I haven't even washed the school uniforms yet. Oh well. It certainly was a happy BEFORE have to kinda day.

Oh and the beads are one of the projects from Pip's cute magazine Good Stuff Guide. Have you seen it yet? It's full of ace people and projects and recipes and stuff to do and buy and make. And I've got a little list in there too. Go take a peek, you'll love it.

Did you have a fun day today?
Was it a recharge day?
Are you in the market for one?
Have you been making any cool crafty stuff?
Have you made these beads for necklaces?
I think we'll thread ours tomorrow, keep some for us and give the rest away to the teachers as prezzies.
Yay!

Have a fabulous and fun week my friends.

xx

  2. Love the beads, such happy colours. I'm sitting here with a hot cup of tea waiting for my daughter to come home from a sleepover. Then we put up the tree. It's like the calm before the storm!!!!! Sarah

  3. I've been knitting (crazy in this weather) I also had a rest today. The summer head cold hit hard on the first day of summer and has knocked me for six (I am hoping that if I get it oer and done with now that will be it for the rest of the season)

  6. kate, next year when I am on LSL, I have this crazy idea that I might like to come and be a farmer boy for you occassionally ( free labour) if you would have me. It just keeps popping into my brain...

  8. We did not have a recharge day but it was still fabulous - we took 12 kids bowling for an 8th birthday and there may well have been too much chocolate cake after as well

  12. Love your recharge day Kate and those beads are so pretty, I look forward to seeing what you do with them. Yesterday I baked bread (as you saw) and cooked stuff from our garden with the kids. I could have been doing lots of other things but the happy-to-do list is so much nicer isn't it? x

  17. Hi Kate, I love the beads. I asked awhile ago about gifts for teachers, we ended up making "garden stakes" out of beads , bells and wire. They were beautiful and I was reminded of them when I saw these gorgeous beads. Thanks Vickie

  20. I'm with them - love the beads! I have 3 more days on count down until concert, ballet and gymnastics have finished. We'll still have 2 more weeks of school - what's with that? - but life will be calmer. Thinking of wagging for the day for a trip to the big smoke to see the windows. Xx

I do read every single comment you leave and appreciate it very much, but I should let you know that I can be a wee bit on the useless side when replying to comments, that's just me, everyday life sometimes gets in the way....so I'll apologise now, just in case.
