So yesterday when I wanted to run away from my life, I had this little fantasy that I could rent a tiny apartment in the city, the family could come and stay with me on weekends, I would spoil them rotten and send them back home for the boring bits.

I had it all worked out.

But this morning I woke up to cuddles from my biggest and littlest favourite people, snow outside my windows and I felt thrilled to be exactly where I was. Warm and all loved up.

When we finally got up, we headed down to Hepburn Springs to march down the streets for the Swiss Italian Festa parade.

Gosh I love this town!

This afternoon we've had a visit from celebrity food and wine blogger Lorraine Elliott from Not Quite Nigella and her husband/photographer. Bren was thrilled to talk to them about our soil, biodiversity, chooks, apples, vegies, soil and garlic but I couldn't wait for the boys to go off and leave us so I could quiz her about life as a full time blogger.

We sent them off with eggs and garlic but hopefully they'll be back early next year so we can show them what goes on here when we are in full production.

And now its late afternoon, Bren is watching the little girls in the bath, Indi is sitting opposite me on the computer and I am about to publish this and then plonk on the couch to knit a few rows. I can't wait to finish what I'm doing so I can get into some of this delicious wool I picked up at Shelley's gorgeous shop, Little Sparrow a few weeks back.

So as it turns out, I am so grateful for what I've got and in reality I wouldn't want it any other way.

I hope your day is making you smile too.

More grateful here.

  1. I almost don't want to comment, if it means adding another email to that inbox.

  2. Glad that your having a happy day, it only takes a night's sleep sometimes to change our opinion doesnt it! The wool looks gorgeous Kate, does she sell it in her shop as I couldnt see it online, but the blue looks quite pretty and the other colors look quite nice too. What are you going to be knitting out of it.

  3. Hey Kate, not surprised you got snow, it's been one very cold day here too.
I was secretly hoping for a dusting of the white stuff.....
Glad things have turned around and everything is as it should be.
Can't wait to see what you whip up with that gorgeous wool.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend

  4. What a difference a day makes - glad you are feeling better.
    Jak x

  5. Oh Darling so that's where the snow's coming from ;)
It must be a very feeling grateful kinda day. Me too! I am so darn pleased with my lot. I know a bit of a spend has that effect, but even braving the icy wind for a quick traipse round the block today added to my feeling of bliss.
WOW love Lorraine and her blog - golly she's dedicated plus she seems so darn honest!
Thrilled that dark cloud has passed for you ... Your pics make my heart melt. Huge Hugs to ALL. xo.

  6. it's all up and down really - isn't it. some days are so busy that i don't think i am going to cope anymore, and then you get other days that are just perfect - the ones that make it all worthwhile.
you can't beat a fabulous family though - it's hard work, but the rewards are absolutely worth it. and heck, you've got a beautiful family!

  7. okay, the naive (spelling?) girl who must have been living under a rock confesses- I did not know there was such a thing as 'full time blggers'- what, like, that's her job? Nice one- how does that work?
Glad you're no longer in escapee mode Kate, they'd miss you and you'd miss them.
And, good grief, about that inbox, delete, delete- that's my advice!
Hope Sunday is just as good x

  8. Sometimes it would be nice just to be you again just for one day but in reality like you said you really wouldn't want it any other way. I know I love to have a bit of me time but then I just love having my little family around me too, bringing so much joy and fun to my life. I hope you are enjoying time to knit and relax. Happy Saturday to you Kate. xo

  9. Glad you are feeling all loved up today... It can get so overwhelming at times. I think you might miss all that girly energy around you mid week in your imaginary city pad.
Love the colours of your wool very much, they look like they have been dyed with natural plants etc. Is that so?

  10. So in other words, you have someone to love, something to do, and something to look forward too. All the ingredients for a happy life. x

  11. happy to hear you are having such a lovely time with reality. It isn't always easy that is for sure :) And all I can saw is Swiss Italian? *giggles*

  12. Ahh glad you've found some peace sweets. Take care of you and sort some Kate time - even half a day a week will make for a happier, craftier Katie girl. Take care, Ab x

  13. Sounds like an awesome day!

... I am grateful that you have changed your blogger settings so that I can read your beautiful blog via my reader again! LOL!

  14. I have had almost the exacted same fantasy before. Sometime is seems like it would be nice to run away.

It looks like you had an awesome day. Beautiful pictures.

  15. LOL I'm with Jodie about adding another email to your list but SNOW!! was that for real?? In October?

Love that little stash you have got going :-)

  16. Love your plan (especially the detail!). It's a good one to keep up your sleeve at all times.

Thanks for linking today, Kate. I always love being here and it's even better when you're part of Grateful Saturday. x

  17. Hi Kate, it was great to meet you and Bren on Saturday (which seems like so long ago!). We'll definitely have to come back in February and see everything in all of its glory. Oh and the eggs garlic made it back just fine-thankyou for those! They made beautiful scrambled eggs last night :)

  18. I have realized that in digital cameras, extraordinary sensors help to maintain focus automatically.
Those kind of sensors of some cameras change in contrast, while others employ a beam involving infra-red (IR) light,
specifically in low lumination. Higher spec cameras
oftentimes use a mixture of both methods and probably have Face Priority AF where the dslr camera can 'See' the face
and focus only in that. Thanks for sharing your ideas on this blog.

  26. Ok so I just had to comment on this post too. You see I almost laughed out loud when u said about an apartment. I often think that too! I often think that I'd love my own apartment that had just my things and was quiet and visit whenever I wanted or needed. The only difference is that I'd come back home to visit the family. Wouldn't want them messing up my nice apartment lol!!
