Grateful.

So yesterday when I wanted to run away from my life, I had this little fantasy that I could rent a tiny apartment in the city, the family could come and stay with me on weekends, I would spoil them rotten and send them back home for the boring bits.

I had it all worked out.

But this morning I woke up to cuddles from my biggest and littlest favourite people, snow outside my windows and I felt thrilled to be exactly where I was. Warm and all loved up.

When we finally got up, we headed down to Hepburn Springs to march down the streets for the Swiss Italian Festa parade.

Gosh I love this town!

This afternoon we've had a visit from celebrity food and wine blogger Lorraine Elliott from Not Quite Nigella and her husband/photographer. Bren was thrilled to talk to them about our soil, biodiversity, chooks, apples, vegies, soil and garlic but I couldn't wait for the boys to go off and leave us so I could quiz her about life as a full time blogger.

We sent them off with eggs and garlic but hopefully they'll be back early next year so we can show them what goes on here when we are in full production.

And now its late afternoon, Bren is watching the little girls in the bath, Indi is sitting opposite me on the computer and I am about to publish this and then plonk on the couch to knit a few rows. I can't wait to finish what I'm doing so I can get into some of this delicious wool I picked up at Shelley's gorgeous shop, Little Sparrow a few weeks back.

So as it turns out, I am so grateful for what I've got and in reality I wouldn't want it any other way.

I hope your day is making you smile too.

More grateful here.

  2. Glad that your having a happy day, it only takes a night's sleep sometimes to change our opinion doesnt it! The wool looks gorgeous Kate, does she sell it in her shop as I couldnt see it online, but the blue looks quite pretty and the other colors look quite nice too. What are you going to be knitting out of it.

  3. Hey Kate, not surprised you got snow, it's been one very cold day here too.
I was secretly hoping for a dusting of the white stuff.....

It must be a very feeling grateful kinda day. Me too! I am so darn pleased with my lot. I know a bit of a spend has that effect, but even braving the icy wind for a quick traipse round the block today added to my feeling of bliss.
WOW love Lorraine and her blog - golly she's dedicated plus she seems so darn honest!
Thrilled that dark cloud has passed for you ... Your pics make my heart melt. Huge Hugs to ALL. xo.

  6. it's all up and down really - isn't it. some days are so busy that i don't think i am going to cope anymore, and then you get other days that are just perfect - the ones that make it all worthwhile.
you can't beat a fabulous family though - it's hard work, but the rewards are absolutely worth it. and heck, you've got a beautiful family!

I know I love to have a bit of me time but then I just love having my little family around me too, bringing so much joy and fun to my life. I hope you are enjoying time to knit and relax. Love the colours of your wool very much, they look like they have been dyed with natural plants etc. Is that so?

  17. Hi Kate, it was great to meet you and Bren on Saturday (which seems like so long ago!). We'll definitely have to come back in February and see everything in all of its glory. Oh and the eggs garlic made it back just fine-thankyou for those! They made beautiful scrambled eggs last night :)

  18. I have realized that in digital cameras, extraordinary sensors help to maintain focus automatically.
Those kind of sensors of some cameras change in contrast, while others employ a beam involving infra-red (IR) light,
specifically in low lumination. Higher spec cameras
oftentimes use a mixture of both methods and probably have Face Priority AF where the dslr camera can 'See' the face
and focus only in that. Thanks for sharing your ideas on this blog.

  26. Ok so I just had to comment on this post too. You see I almost laughed out loud when u said about an apartment. I often think that too! I often think that I'd love my own apartment that had just my things and was quiet and tidy....to visit whenever I wanted or needed. The only difference is that I'd come back home to visit the family. Wouldn't want them messing up my nice apartment lol!!
