My big & little.

Late yesterday afternoon, after Pepper's nap but before we picked up Jazzy and played with the puppy, we popped into a cafe to deliver some eggs and veg and for a quick coffee.

Indi asked if they had any chalk and then she and Pepper proceeded to decorate the footpath.

It was fun to watch them draw. It was like the pavement was one great big canvas.

I love the way these two play together, my big and my little. There is never any competition or fighting. Indi is so full of patience and tenderness for her little sister, and Pepper is like her little puppy. Earlier in the week when Pepper was really sick and crying in pain, a few times I looked over to see big fat tears rolling down Indi's cheeks.

Everywhere we went after that, people told us they'd seen the girls' street art ouside the cafe.

Funny how Pepper's outline looks like a character from Where The Wild Things Are.

I hope you are having a happy Friday!

  17. So good to see Pepper good again. Funny I was just looking at the word coxsackie yesterday in a book as I tried to figure out a red spotty patch of skin on my boy. But all that aside I wanted to thank you so much for this post because as I struggle to conceive my second child and have all these awful emotional turns about the ever expanding age gap between my existing child and the one that won't happen (4 years and counting)I am going to dry out my hankie and know that big and little can have a very special and tender relationship. Thanks for touching my heart today. xx

  22. My big and little have a fantastic relationship too. The big is so caring and patient with the little.
The liitle just absolutely idolises the big one.
I feel for the middle one as sometimes I see he feels out of the look. He tends to jump in and interupt causing the problems - maybe even numbers may have been easier. As I type little and middle are about to wrap racquets aroundeach other over a disagreement in a game of totem tennis, the big has gone out to resume the calm again :)
