Friday night at our place looks a lot like this. It smells of the open fire and of freshly mown grass. Friday night sounds like farmer Bren chopping away at a piece of Blackwood, like Indi practising the guitar, like the kookaburras laughing at us from high up in the tree-tops and like the girls giggling at me rushing around taking photos before we lose the light. Friday night at ours tastes like spelt spaghetti with freshly made pesto and it feels a bit chilly since the sun has disappeared. Friday night tonight is a bit of a relief, a bit of an exhale, the second last late night before school really starts.

Friday night here is lovely, I hope yours is too.

  2. Ours was filled with the visits of lots of little girls. There are fewer sounds sweeter then those of happy six year old girls just hanging out with no one telling them what to do.

  3. What great pics. Sounds like fun. Right now I'm not sure where the grass is. Covered under about 30" of snow.

  8. So lovely Kate. The smell of new mown grass is one of my favourites. What beautiful memories you are creating amongst your wide open space...you will look back in years to come and sigh wondering when did these girlies so grow up. Where did all this time go. Treasure it.

  10. My year 'really' started today too. A return to the Girl Guide uniform. No kids around our house anymore, but I am still guided - literally - by school terms. Can't complain though. What's to complain about being outside and meeting up with amazing women, all volunteers, to plan our adventures for the coming year?

  11. It sounds very wonderful Kate. Perfect weather for an open fire too and cosying up with a bit of knitting. Ooh nearly forgot (was I supposed to contact Georgie for the pattern I won on your blog). I wasnt too sure. I hope your girls enjoy their back to school on Monday. Isabelle is a bit nervous since she will be going to a new school for Year 8.

Thanks so much for stopping by...

I do read every single comment you leave and appreciate it very much, but I should let you know that I can be a wee bit on the useless side when replying to comments, that's just me, everyday life sometimes gets in the way....so I'll apologise now, just in case.
